5 years and 2 garages ago, i removed my OEM seat belts and installed harnesses - i put my belts in a box and put them away - i am a pack rat, and i keep everything

now i have decided to reinstall the OEM belts, along with the harnesses, and have the best of both worlds - no worries - i'll just pull them out of the box and install them

wrong!

i have the part that spools the belt and everything that goes with it

but somehow now i am missing the receiver sections - i've torn my garage apart looking for these and cannot find them - it makes no sense - i know i didn't toss them - i don't think i sold them or gave them away (why would i do just the ends?)

i distinctly remember them not fitting in what i wanted to put them in, so i stuck them somewhere else - i just can't figure out where - i also know i've moved once, and also gone through every box and gotten rid of dead stuff twice, but this is ridiculous

so now i am all torn apart and stuck - i will have to order new ones tomorrow - that likely won't be cheap

not sure how they got separated, but this is a good lesson on how not to consolidate things - sometimes it's better to use more space so as to keep things together

Yep, and a short while after the new replacements arrive, you'll find the old ones while searching for something entirely unrelated.

Flash, they are probably sliding around in the belly pan of my car...I'll take a couple of corners and see if I can get them to fall out.

Bob, considering how OCO ( obsessive-compulsive-organized) you are, if YOU can't locate something in the Garaj-Mahal, there's no hope for any of us.

it makes me crazy when this happens - i just don't have enough room though to have everything in sight

Disk went out today. One more thing to file "somewhere".

well, the bad news is that they really seem to be gone - i have a vague memory of leaving them on the pair of seats when i sold them

the good news is that it seems that the belts are fairly universal - the one from the 968 plugs right into the receiver in the M3

so, getting new receivers should be pretty easy
