My son and I have had our '94 amazon green coupe with M030 package for 10 years or so. Right now the engine is out and apart after discovering a cracked cylinder wall . Other than the machining I'm doing all the work myself. We'll see how my mechanical ability stacks up when I do the reassembly.

Welcome..

Were you having cooling problems leading up to that, or a blown head gasket? That type of failure isn't that common.

It's kind of a long story. The car was running fine, and I did what should have been some straightforward PM on it (new water pump and new belts). When I finally finished this work, it started, but threw a big plume of white smoke out the exhaust. Reluctantly I pulled the head hoping for a blown head gasket. The head gasket was fine; the head was fine; the #2 cylinder wall had about a 1" crack running down from the top. I have absolutely no idea what happened.
I have pulled the engine and taken it apart. I am having all 4 cylinders sleeved.
Hopefully with the help of this forum I can get it reassembled OK. This has been a very long, painful and expensive process.

Ouch!

We'll be here to help...and lend moral support

Maybe take some pics of the process...I've never seen a total tear down.

I'd be glad to post pics. Where in the forum would be the best place to do this?
