Can someone show a picture of how they've mounted their fire extinguisher. I was going to mount it on the right of the center console near the passenger's left foot/shin, but seems kind of bulky for that location.

Brey kruse makes a nice mount that goes under the passenger seat.
This is the most common place.
Thanks, but I have a mount, it's already on the fire extinguisher that is pictured, you just can't see it.
The mount that you have attaches to the BK mount which attaches to the front two seat slider bolts. It is then parallel to the front of the seat bottom and basically out of the way but very accessible when needed.

I put my extinguisher between the seats - that way it is accessible from all directions and it also doubles as an arm rest.
I bought a Brey-Karuse seat mount. It works well, but it does limit the amount of forward seat movement. This can also be a pain to get in with the seat mounting hardware.
We have to have metal mounting for the extinguisher - it can get noisy.
note on fire extinguishers - it's been a while since i ran one, but i made the mistake once of using an ABC in a car - completely ineffective in handling an engine fire - had to go halon
anybody doing this - make sure the extinguisher is for cars
Halon rules! That's one of the advantages of doing what I do - I get the halon stuff for free (banned in Europe save for subs and aviation IIRC).
Halon is also banned here is Australia. You have to have a dry chemical type extinguisher. Puts out the fire, but when you add water, it corrodes all of your electrical connections.
Should I be aware of anything in this area before I drill mounting holes for a fire extinguisher mount? thx

The white 968 that Max services at provost has a really nice mount. I for got where we got it from. I can look in his folder and find site.
I mounted mine using a bracket that mounts to the passenger seat. It was somewhat of a pain to install as you had to remove the passenger seat to mount it properly. When Installed it is parallel to the passenger seat, but the advantage of it is that it moves as the seat goes front and bake. It does not block the movement of the seat. The only draw back to it is that the passenger has to be a little careful when getting in and out so as not to dislodge the two clips that hold the extinguisher to the bracket. I have Halon II extinguisher to a metal block that has two straps. As mentioned above the HalonII is safe to spray on wires as it does not corrode the wires as it is a gas not a foam. It works by smothering the flame depriving it by lack of oxygen. When using this kind of extinguisher spray by going side to side as opposed to aiming just at the flames.

Pete, thanks. I have a mount, just need to know if I there are electrical lines or anything else that I should be worried about drilling into. A friend of mine got this mount and the extinguisher from Dupont, said it is what they use in NASCAR. Just need to be able to drill a few holes for self tapping screws.
