No way my 951, or 968 are even close. My buddy has a 79' 924 turbo. I bet pretty early survivor. Ill have to let him know. Wonder if theyll differentiate between, 924, and 931 tho.
Neither am I. I gotta 94.

"their owners will receive special recognition and become eligible for additional awards, including an exclusive badge from the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart. Images of some winning models will be featured at the new "Sixty Years of Porsche in America" exhibit, opening on Oct. 12 at the Porsche Museum, and one car <b>might </b>be selected for display at the Porsche stand during the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show this fall."</i>

C'mon Porsche, you can do better then that.
how about they look for the oldest 968 (driver) instead ? .. I might even make the cut for that one
i think gildersleeve's car would be the one
I've got SN 169 from 1992. How close am I?
I'm guessing the Porsche is giving themselves an out regarding showing the car at LA. Suppose the oldest turns out to be a rusted out beater???????????
"how about they look for the oldest 968 (driver) instead ? .. I might even make the cut for that one"

I think that I probably have you beat on that one.
I said I'd "make the make the cut", not "one foot in the grave".. I wonder if we should start a different thread on this, curious to see what our membership age scale looks like
Too rusty? Just Maybe....

Minty is #9 out of 2,008 cabs.
"I've got SN 169 from 1992. How close am I?"

You are #109 of 2,008 cabs, October 1991 build.
that is to say at least #109 SOLD of the cars built -

i'm trying to track down one of the demo cars now - i ran across somebody who said they knew somebody who had it, that it was in the first 60 numbers, which were for in-house use only - they said the car was never sold, and only transported around the country for shows, and then given to one of the guys from vasek polak

what number was gilder's hardtop?

Wow, that would be cool if you could find one of those. I have found that the public relations cars are regular production cars with option code 740 which means they were used in car shows or something but that would be for North American 968s.

Gilder's car is #8 of the 968 coupes PRODUCED (not necessaruily sold as cars could be destroyed in shipping or left in Europe, wrecked during a test drive, ect, never actually being sold).

so his car is one of those in the first 60 numbers batch?

the ones i would like to find are the ones that they are required by US import law to build each year for testing, but then if they get a waiver on the crash tests, never made it to the shredder - this happens all the time, but they cannot be sold for street use
"so his car is one of those in the first 60 numbers batch?"

No, sorry, he is NS820068, part of the run starting with NS820061.

I have never seen a 968 with a VIN lower the 61. If you find one let us know. That would be cool.
Jeff
you probably never will in full car form - as i said, they could not be sold for street use - there are a couple of them that have popped up over the years as a bare chassis later used as a track car - i have no idea how many survived the crash tests, or were not destroyed

PCNA records won't show them either, as they never hit the sales database

but, it would be interesting for sure to find them - sort of like all of the missing cobra chassis that carrol stashed and later popped up
I submitted my application a number of weeks back and I heard back from PCNA this weekend, I'll post a photo of the badge once i have it.
