The only "consumable" allowed in my 968 is water...if you need to eat or drink then I'll stop the car and you can get out.

Food in my car doesn't bother me as long as it's not soup or something spillable , just no smoking.

i'm not big on eating in the car, though i have done it enough.  it's very distracting.  i'd never do it in a manual transmission car.  need the hands free.

 

funny how the original topic was about a US tv show, and the conversation has been largely about everything but that.

That's because the US show sucks ( or rather " sucked " ..it was canceled , wasn't it ? ) so any marginally-related discussion is better than beating a dead horse, as it is..

The UK show is now cancelled as well after clarkson punched a producer

I think they only canceled the remaining two episodes of the season, no decisions have apparently been made relative to either the next season of the show or Clarkson's future there - he's only suspended, not fired .


and I just heard what sounds like a far fetched theory, although I wonder if in the wacky world of show biz it's really that unrealistic ; all of the three hosts' contracts were expiring and due for renewal at the end of this season ... some say ( sorry, had to use a Stig ref..) that Clarkson purposely started the fracas to get suspended , knowing that millions would write in calling for a boycott of the show , not to mention the sponsors which would drop off... just so as to get a lot more money on his next contract using the " without me, there will be no show and the entire network will also suffer irreparable damage " argument . Could he really be that devious and calculating , or is he simply a hothead ? The latter being the reason he is so well liked :-)

Looks like they fired him.  Idiots !  ( IMHO )   And the producer who was on the receiving end of Jeremy's fist is ( allegedly )  Irish..  Really ?!   Ireland should strip him of any citizenship and disown him as a "son".  You can't call yourself Irish if you can't take a punch as well as you can throw one.  What a  p+ssy !    Yeah, I know it's not him, it's BBC who is putting work ethic decorum ahead of profits... again :  idiots   !

Its a good thing not all companies fire people who get into a drunken argument with co-workers, unemployment would be through the roof!

Both May and Hammond announced they will not renew their contracts ( you have to admire anyone who leaves that much money on the table to stand by a principle ) so it'll be interesting to see how the BBC manages to reinvent it he show. Maybe they'll get Ricky Gervais, John Cleese and Rowan Atkinson ( "Mr. Bean" ) so he can crash every car they test, as hosts for the new show :-) :-)

Let's just hope they don't hire the 3 guys that were in the US version.

Lol, right back to the original topic of this thread.. yeah, trained monkeys ( or even untrained ones ) would make better hosts but to be fair the US show was also so poorly produced it was hopeless no matter who they picked . Hell, maybe Clarkson should have punched the US producer instead :-) .

Now that's a great idea! I'll bet they could sell tickets to that.

Blah. Maybe they'll get a quarter of the viewership the " Clarkson trio " pulled in. It's like replacing the cast of Seinfeld or Cheers or any other wildly successful show and hoping the series would survive with the new cast..no matter who they may be. As the kids say : .. WHATEVER ..!
