If anyone knows of a shop in the southeast where I can get my 968 restored I would appreciate the info.

 

I am in Florida but would take the car anywhere in the SE US (GA, TN, SC, NC etc)

 

I would like to do a full restore , paint interior etc.  Car is not in to bad of shape but needs paint, minor bodywork.

It's in pretty good shape but the paint is terrible.  The hood is peeling and it needs rear window work.  Door panels are sunburned but seats are in good shape

Door cards are notoriously hard to find, no new stocks of most interior parts, the rest sounds like you need a good body shop

 

A full glass out restore could be seriously expensive, 6-10k

Yeah I don't mind spending the money, I want to make this car nice.  It's a good example for restoration but I want someone that has done Porsche before.

I have a good mechanic and a good body guy i use in the Brevard area if you are interested.

Used to but are somewhat less these days. As one that farmed out each job to the corresponding specialist I'd also recommend steering clear of full on restoration shops, not only will it be unnessarily expensive, take much longer than it should (they're always backed up if any good), but finding one specializing in these cars other than purely mechanical is slim and none. Porsche restoration shops fall into 4 main categories,356, 911, modified race cars (Klub Sport, Jack Lewis Ent. etc), and factory race cars (Gunnar Racing, Canepa, etc). 

 

Although it's been nearly a year since the OP last asked there is one I might recommend, GT Motorcars in Gainesville. Mostly just a bodyshop now doing a lot of insurance collision work but a few extended projects on the side, although Bob (the owner) recently told me he's no longer doing restorations. Although from decades of restoring 356's and 911's he has the ability and knowledge. Wouldn't hurt to get in touch tho, sounds like the car just needs a little bodywork, a good paint job and some interior trim work. 

 

A buddy wanted me to freshen up his 906 years ago so I took it to Bob, they fitted the (gullwing) doors correctly, block sanded and painted it and cut a new windshield out of plexiglass and molded it in (glass was NLA at the time). It turned out beautiful as race cars go, one of the perks was getting to race it one weekend.
