After many years, I've come to realize that I enjoy routine, but I despise repetition. My wife on the other hand says I'm just lazy.



Regardless of the reason, I like to visit the forums from time to time and click the "View New Posts" instead of searching for them manually.



I know the folks at IP.Board have been working for a long time on making this function more accurate, but I'm wondering why certain posts appear over and over as "new", when I've already viewed them several times, and even on several different computers.



Any ideas?

there is a setting in your control panel that allows you to set the view new posts as a choice between "last visit" and "not read"

I have it set to "not read", thinking that because I stay logged in, that will provide better results...



I'll switch it back and see what happens.

hmmm - if you have it set to "not read" then it should not show the same posts again if you actually clicked on them at some point, assuming of course that you have cookies enabled

Yup, lots of cookies. Using recent version of Chrome - 10.0.648.133, and installing latest, latest Chrome now.

Rats. Same thing this morning on upgraded Chrome. Oh well. Maybe I can find a GreaseMonkey script like the one I have for phpBB.

the good news is that tech support says that the upcoming software update of the site will fix the problem

Excellent! Are we on version 2 or 3-something?

View New Posts works for me about 75% of the time. The other 25% it says there is no new content, even when there is.

we are on 3.1 - 3.2 will supposedly fix these bugs



one thing to make sure of is that the tab that is highlighted is "forums" and not "members" or "gallery" or something like that - the new software allows you to look for new content in multiple areas
