Got the double-DIN installed last night, which required some epic cutting of the lower brace, much more than flash's version, as I wanted to retain the DIN insert that came with my stereo. That insert didn't survive unmolested either, as I removed a good portion of the bottom panel of it, and a bit of the side panels on the lower rear of them. I found at least one connector in there that was not connected to anything - it was rounded on all edges and had only two positions, and they were for quite large round pins, the wiring going to it was quite beefy, I need to get the unit out and get a picture and the colors of the wires so I can look it up.

Now I need to figure out where to route the GPS wire, the iPod wiring, the Bluetooth microphone, and the USB cable for GPS/firmware updates... For now I'm considering putting them into the glovebox, although running them beneath the carpet and into the otherwise useless armrest area is tempting while I have the console apart.

Any suggestions on what to do to route the GPS and microphone especially, and keep them hidden?
Put the iPod connector in the armrest. It's very easy and you don't have to go under the carpet. Everything else can live in the glovebox. Mic wire can get routed up the A-pillar by removing the covers.
