Full Version: Weird knocking/grinding from window

Hi guys,

So today I thought I would tackle this rather irritating knocking/grinding sound I can hear when I lower/raise my window on the driver side.

I removed the door panel with ease, and then felt around the inside of the door while lowering and raising the window. The sound seems to be coming north of the motor - I would say four inches up - but I can't for the life of me figure out what it is! The whole assembly (gears, window track) seem to be very solid, and there are no loose screws (at least the ones that I can get to!). The fact that the assembly is behind the metal sheeting doesn't exactly help with troubleshooting the problem.

Anyone ever come across this problem or better yet fixed it?

cheers,

milton
You could have some binding happening as the window moves. I had the forward section of rubber track fall out of the guide rail and I had weird clunking noises with rattling when I drove. Found a used one and glued it into the track so it would never fall out again.
