(aside: I really like the feature of the board that throws up similar threads before you write a duplicate... very nice.)

'Mates - you may or may not have noticed my wee post in the parts wanted section. I'm looking for an airbag controller.

Story: driving down the road and the airbag light comes on. Great Undecided I've been to IMA twice. First time we pulled a left crash sensor resistance fault. They didn't have a part at the time, so we scheduled a return visit. This time we pulled codes and got a right crash sensor fault. Crazy. Checked resistances at the sensor per the manual diagnostics and everything checked out. Which means its the control unit.

In Virginia will this car pass inspection without an airbag? Have any of you removed the bag on a street car? Rumor has it the inspector turns the key and needs to see the warning light, which then needs to go off. No warning light - no approval, since that would indicate someone has messed with the airbag system.

And per another thread here: is the control unit really a generic part? That would help expand my search for a used unit.
I've noticed lately that my car has what I guess you could call Lazy Air Bag Light Syndrome. The air bag light and exclamation point will be on when I start up the car and then go away anywhere from 1 minute to 5 minutes later. It use to be an occasional thing where the light would come on and go away after a minute and I wouldn't see it again for months, but it seems to be more constant now. Can't really help much, but will be watching if you figure it out. Haven't really done anything about it since it turns itself off.
Interesting bag behavior, banditsc. I have a used bag brain on the way. I'll post an update here.
