I have been thinking about doing this for a while now. Coincidentally, Eric's bumper plugs dot com shop is in Charlotte and I was able to walk in and "meet the boss". They did a great job!
They removed your spoiler! [Image: ohmy.gif]

Oh wait, it's a Cab [Image: biggrin.gif]

i'm confused - what's new? is it the rubber bumpers painted?
I was confused as well - which caused my eye to wander to the trunk lid, when I noticed the "missing" spoiler, until I realized 968gene's car is a Cab. I think the change is the painted bumperettes - they look pretty shiny.
bumperplugs.com was the hint, they do a variety of things including painting the bumperettes. The bumper piping is new as well. The spoiler is a future project.
Not quite sure how it would look with white
hmmm - personal preference i think - i saw those on eric's car 7 years ago - didn't really like them then - not really liking them now - i think i'm to old - i grew up with chrome and watched the plastic stuff come onto the market - i like contrasting things on cars - when it's all one color, it makes me think "plastic", which to me means "cheap" - the more i think about it, the more i miss my mgb - sigh

back on topic - how much did it cost to do that?
The look is very much updated. Much cheaper than replacing the bumperettes because they have become dry and porous. Its a 14 step process (check the website) and the results look like new pieces that reflect like glass.
definitely looks "updated" - i think that's exactly what bugs me about it (i'm an old fuddy duddy), but i get it

how much did it cost? how long did it take?
Less than 1/2 the price of a new pair and a couple of weeks....
Looking good - also notice 968gene's car doesn't suffer from wavy bumper cover syndrome.
i paid about $100 for both of my new ones, so about $50 - cool - good deal
Very shinny! I would love to replace the rear bumperettes with a dual exhaust system that exits through those holes in the bumper. Maybe it isn't that feasible (would need to remove the structural bumper) but I think the look would be amazing.

Phil
Phil,

Interesting idea. Although, I suppose you'd have to somehow eliminate the current half-opening in the bumper for the current tailpipe location.
i looked at that too (ala the mustang) - there are some challenges (like the spare tire well is in the way), but it could be done
Done properly, I could see it being a very cool look on this car. But yes, there are several challenges.
