Hello,

I am looking for two hood buffer pieces, called filler pieces in the katalog, which are NLA. These are the two that sit on the inside of the fenders, right behind the brake booster and cruise control unit. The P/N is: 944-511-485-00. If someone has a couple lying around, or is parting a 968 and has two in good condition, I will gladly give them a good home. Thanks in advance.
Those are NLA? That sucks! I'll check my parts car for you.

Another NLA part - damn! My car has only one, need one more...
Yes, it does, what a bummer eh? It becomes harder to fix all the 'little things' when one can't get the bits and pieces to do so. Thanks for your efforts, Darryl.
I emailed Bob at Sunset Porsche - they are indeed NLA and he has none available.
Parts car coming down off the lift tomorrow for the "Porsche shuffle"...Cayenne needs new sneakers. I'll check out to see if they are there or not.

i wonder if there is a similar part for the 944 that might fit?
Perhaps you should try carving your own, would you be interested in dimensions?

Flash, the 944 does use something similar (P/N 477-823-185), but it appears somewhat different in the parts diagram. It may, however, serve as a good base from which to carve my own, as Trueblue suggests. I have most of one still, so I should be able to gauge the dimensions. I’ll see about either wrangling up some 944 units or some high-density rubber foam and start whittling…

Also, it appears the units not only fit over the fender lip, but are also glued on? At least the 1/2 of the one I have is, anyway. So, if there happen to be some nice used or new ones floating around, I’ll be here. Thanks guys!
Why whittle when you can "burn"........ Make yourself a hotwire cutter, it will make the cuts quick and clean, albeit a bit stinky........

Parts car had one. It does glue on as well as fit over the metal edge. The one I have is in tact but does appear to have the very beginnings of a separation at the "hinge" point but I'm not sure this is due to age, temperature, or removal. Since both of my cars still have both of these pieces, this one is "extra" and since NLA, I'd be inclined to keep it but if someone needs it, please PM. I'd love to be able to donate it to someone who could fab up a replacement part. Nice new ones would look great as our cars begin to show their age.

Darryl,

I don't know about my fabricaiton skills, but when I come up with some more time I'd love to give it a try. If you're willing to part with your 'extra', I'll gladly recieve it. Thanks!

Trueblue,

Good info. Thank you.
