I see them advertised and pictures of them installed. Is there a "wear and tear multiplier" associated with mounting this kit up on our older cars? This install is inspiring.

I just read the info sheet from D1R. Pretty informative.
That engine bay is nice, I would change that coolant reservoir. But, very nice indeed!
RECOMMENDATIONS AND CAUTIONS
With something this dramatic, we must err on the side of caution, and carefully direct
the purchaser as to the issues and concerns prior to installing this system. Please read
these carefully.
We HIGHLY recommend having a Run Rite treatment done prior to beginning this task.
Cleaning out the Intake System and Injectors is key to any good running engine, and it
is even more beneficial in Forced Induction.
We highly recommend having your Fuel Injectors cleaned and balanced.
We highly recommend having a Leak Down test conducted on your engine, and if you
have more than 8% Leak Down at the valves, that you have your valves done.
We highly recommend that you perform an oil change at this time.
We highly recommend that, at a bare minimum, you fully inspect the car and renew any
worn suspension or braking components. Upgrading the brakes or suspension to
handle the new power and speeds you may find yourself driving is an excellent idea.
Stainless brake lines, with a quality street pad, and M030 swaybars on fresh struts and
shocks would be a very reasonable minimum level.
We strongly recommend against adding Forced Induction to any engine that is worn,
tired, or has over 50k miles on it without at least first verifying the condition of the
engine and/or head gasket. The head gaskets are known to deteriorate over time, and
could fail regardless of engine condition.
We highly recommend that the Timing Belt and Balance Belt be NO MORE than 2 years
old, have LESS than 20k on them, are carefully inspected prior to installation, and the
Balance belt properly tensioned.
We strongly recommend against adding this system to a Tiptronic car. We suspect the
Flex Dampener of being incapable of handling the load.
We recommend you verify your ECU number PRIOR to purchase of the kit. This system
will ONLY work with ECU #0261.203.070 with part number 944.618.123.02. We have
seen a number of cars with different ECUs in them. Do not assume you have the right
one because it is a later year.
We make no warranty regarding the specific laws of your State, nor regarding any
complications with your Insurance Company. Many States prohibit the installation of
such a device on a street driven vehicle. Many Insurance Policies also prohibit the
installation of such a device. We recommend you look into this before installing this
system.
yeah - the only changes to that i need to make are that it now works with the earlier ECU as well as the Tiptronic
You won't regret it. Adds the upper midrange that makes it just plain feel good. It does not convert the car into a fire breathing dragon which destroys the engine from within. These cars are way too special for that. The unit is OEM quality and should last for the life of the car.
It makes your gas pedal act a bit funnny sometimes though
It made my car quick enough to match my lightly modified 2.7 twin turbo audi up past 130mph in a straight line.
Great feedback, thanks all.
I spent the first day driving my "new" 968 around today. While the car is a very good handling car it sorely lacks power. Of course I'm jaded in driving a 400+hp Mini Cooper that just rips your head off. lol
My Mini is also Rotrex'd and I can't stop thinking about this kit to liven it up. I think I'm going to have to get a ride in one of these soon.....
Here is my "new" baby.......
and my pocket rocket..........

I'll be contacting you next week.......pm me your phone number or just call me Tues
thanks! I have so many questions about the car. I can never just leave a car alone.....lol
no worries - my pms are turned off, but i can ring you up
by the way, the last kit from round 2 is spoken for now - i just started a thread about round 3
"a 400+hp Mini Cooper"
400 hp through the front wheels?! That has got to be entertaining to drive...

I don't want to take this great thread off track but >...........
I'll make a thread if people want to see it. I have video at the track on the first outing of the new supercharger. It was about 350hp in the video. It may look like a race car but its still driven on the street and it's full weight. Knowing how good the Rotrex supercharger is I can just about imagine what it would do with a built engine and full boost going through 3.0L of fun!
as we know, boost is determined by flow in and out. due to the design of the engine (intake, cylinder efficiency, rpm range, etc), full boost on the 968 with this unit is about 7lbs - this kit does 5lbs. so, it's at 70% of full boost already. more than that gets really dicey in a number of areas, and is not recommended for the 968. had they have started with lower compression, we could have gone a lot farther.
but, it's really fun now, extremely civilized, and exactly what i was shooting for.
RMW - Yes, let's not get this thread side-tracked. But just one last comment - that is one mighty extroverted street car!
