Hello there

Well - today I pulled the car out of the garage, into the light, and had a bit of a look around the engine compartment...

I found this "interesting" loose wire - black wire with a blue spade connector - loose - looks like it has been connected in the past - see pics attached

It's lying around the space behind the starter motor / AC compressor....all very interesting....so - down in the area of the L/h engine mount - bleow and inward of the plastic radiator resivoir

I've traced it back to where it joins a main wiring loom bundle, forward, and in front of, the main fuse-box

Car runs well - AC is always v cold, and heater is very weak - so I suspect it might be something that should be connected to the back of the a/c compressor ??? - without removing all underbody panels I can';t see the back of the compressor

car has recently had uniden alarm fitted, and the guys went around playing with the wiring for a few days wholst they "learnt" stuff....

Any ideas would be useful!!!

Cheers

Chris
almost positive that is not OEM wiring. i have never seen a male spade in this car.
Cheers Flash - that's good to know - if it was not for the fact that the wiring seems to go into a main loom I would not have bothered with the post; however, the old girl does seem to have a fair bit of interesting wiring aquired over her life....Car is RHD Hong Kong car...

will tie up, and next time i have the bottom pans off I'll look further.....

Cheers

Chris
Check to see if it B+ or ground. Agree with Flash, not OEM, but if B+ you would want to be sure that it is kept from grounding out on the car/engine metal.
Hmm - just went for a drive - a/c has stopped working - ! - now that's a coincidence - will test to see if signal appears when I turn on a/c button - checked visual with engine running - rpms go up when switch is pushed in , light illuminates on switch, but centre of clutch plate on ac compressor does not turn around - think it should....????? - to signify clutch engaged......

All good fun.......
yep - clutch not engaging - - tried turning on a/c switch with ignition on - the spade wire connctor does not energise....however, don't want to try it with car running?

so I must summise that

1 - this wire is meant to be connected to compressor - and it's an aftermarket one....

2 - relay has gone bad - remind me anyone how to jump the relay - 86 and 30 terminals?

3 - loose wire and compressor clutch not engaging are 2 completly isolated things! -

will take off bottom pan tomorrow and crawl in - ugh....

any comments welcome!

1 - this wire is going to thr compressor
The only black wire in that area , that i could find on my car , is conected to the ac compressor .

It comes out of the wiring loom same place as you show your loose connection .
right -cheers for that - looks like I'm going to be spending the day crawling under the car.....
Yea, there is a single black, lonely wire that runs to the A/C clutch in that area. I have had to clean mine up a little with electrical tape as it was rubbing around down there.
