I just walked out of a local Porsche dealer with a price on a 968 headlight motor $1308.00. My first thought was to sell the car one part at a time if the the parts are worth so much in the unattached stage. However I still like the car and want to keep it.

Does anyone know of a source for used 968 parts in the Chicago area?
There are plenty of dismantlers that will have the part for a lot less and I'm sure someone will chime in, quite a few on the west coast - LA Dismantler, Parts Haven, Nineapart, Pelican, Oklahoma Foreign..... I have not seen one in person but I would be the first guy to crack it open and see if it's just a bit of emery cloth and bearing/rotor lube that will save the day. Unless you let the smoke Genie out in which case you are on the hunt.
Make sure it's not just a fuse or relay first and it's not jammed, you can lift it manually. Doubt you will find a used one, but the Porsche breakers should have them, DCAuto has them for a reasonable price. http://dcauto.gotdns...index/492763453

Also that price you were given is more then retail, the current retail price is 1239.75 and you can get it from a Porsche dealer like Sunset Porsche or Sonnen for around $860
Only $860 <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.png" class="smilie" alt="" />
