I had purchased Flash's D1R chassis brace some time ago and had kept it down in Southern Cal at a friend's house. Well I finally was in the neighborhood and Flash was kind enough to do the install as well as my new wind deflector. I could not be happier. I thought I would be gaining stability but sacrificing looks - Well, as it turns out I was wrong - I gained handling, but also gained looks! - I think it looks much better w/ the brace. (Not a great angle on the pic, but you be the judge) Thanks again Flash!
happy to help. glad you liked it
That looks great!
I am also thinking of getting the cab Chassis Brace soon.
Where did you source the Wind Deflector? I need to get that item to satisfy the wife's question of "why" I need the chassis brace. "To hold the Wind Deflector in place dear, so you don't get a sore neck when the top is down!" <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.png" class="smilie" alt="" />
lol - that's the OEM deflector. sunset is the source for most of us. the last i heard, it was about $400 to your door in the US. it really does a VERY nice job of calming down the wind. her hair won't get nearly as messed up, and it quiets down the cabin too. a couple of simple mods to it and it fits in very nicely. i actually designed the brace with the windscreen in mind. note the profile and the bump at the center that corresponds to the same bump in the profile of the windscreen
The wind deflector went a long way toward resolving the :"squeak in the passenger seat"...we purchased it as an anniversary gift.

Very nicely done! I was wondering why that windscreen looked so "matched" with the Chassis Brace!
Jake, we can pick it up on the way to Paso next year <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.png" class="smilie" alt="" />
if you end up waiting that long, and i am still making them, and you bring the car down, and come down a day in advance, i will install it here for you
lol - how's that for needing the planets to line up?

Sounds VERY tempting...
I know that this is going to sound very strange... but
Home Depot paid for my DR1 Chassis Brace!
(and most of the "other" goodies I ordered)
Let me explain.
I am in the middle of renovating the entire house we bought earlier this year. I am currently working on the kitchen. We bought the cabinets from Home Depot about six months ago but I have only gotten around to installing them this past week. The order was all messed up, with stuff missing, items shipped that were not ordered, etc. On Saturday I went there and sorted it all out and they applied a 10% discount to the entire bill as a way to appease me.
I came home and proudly told my wife and her response was:
"Well NOW I am OK with THAT order you placed for 968 parts...".
Her response caught me off guard a bit, but my response:
"YES!!!!! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rock.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
Peace reigns again in the Kuik household. Thank you Home Depot! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/icon_lol1.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
quick - go schedule a major remodel so they can goof again and then you can get a supercharger - lol
Flash - email sent @ D1R site!!!
Carl
I'm intrested in the wind deflector and would like to see an illustration of it. What is the P/N or vehicle that is was originally intended for? Thanks.
it's for the 944 cab / 968 cab. i have the installation instructions here, and will post them later today.
