Have just recently purchased a 1995 Karminrot Red hardtop coupe, approx 140,000kms. Had recently sold a 1980 Mini Clubman 1275 GT that was modified for club events and certainly think I have made the right choice. Love the Porsche and not having any real Porsche knowledge have been very interested in reading the history, performance and longevity of these vehicles. The car will be kept for special trips rather than a daily drive and will check over mechanicals, principally the Variocam gear, prior to fully unleashing its top end performance.
Welcome. Lots of Todd info here, post and poke around. Enjoy your drive!
Welcome! I drove through Taupo last spring, covered both islands, and was in Wellington during the big quake in Christchurch. Glad you're on board, and instead of the Variocam bits, pay more immediate attention to the timing belt. Have it replaced immediately if it has been three years or 30,000 miles as both age and mileage are equally important. The balance shaft belt should be done at the same time as its failure can wad it up and take out the timing belt along with it. Either way, valves will meet pistons and it'll be all over.
Welcome, there are a few kiwis on here.

Enjoy the 968, Its a good fit for our roads.
