Hi Forumers,

I seem to have a cricket somewhere in the vehicle that chirps whenever I go over bumps in the road. Sounds like it is somewhere in the back, possibly the trunk. From the drivers' seat it sounds to be coming from the passenger side, but my girlfriend says that from the passenger side it seems to be coming from the drivers' side.

It is a higher-pitched chirping sound, like something is rubbing against something else perhaps.

I tried jiggling the rear seats, but this makes no sound.

Any suggestions?
The hatch can make all kinds of noise.
Could possibly be related to the rear hatch. Those things are notorious rattle and creak makers. First step - make sure every nut and screw on the rear hatch is snugged up tight.
The pins on the rear hatch can squeak when they start to rub on the latches - lube them up with something like lithium grease, and then lube up the rubber seal with silicone grease to make sure it's not grabbing onto the hatch.
Good lord. I took a long drive for the first time in my car and after a period of time I thought somehow a cricket had dropped into my car. So what is the reason?

Are you sure you weren't practicing your stand up routine in the car ?
Ba dum bum!
If you have a cab, check that the rear glass is scooting around even a tiny bit. My 944 did that, found that the hatch glass was ready to come off!
That will be the day. Rave on DS. Lets keep this thread on line and not talk about cabs again! It was a bumpy road where I heard it but I had also been on mostly bumpy roads and it didn't start till 1.5 hours into the hey lets take a Friday afternoon drive with the top off.
At your suggestions, I checked out the rear hatch and it turns out the noise was coming from the spoiler, specifically where it attaches on the driver's side. I just put a small bit of lubricant in there and the noise is gone!

Thanks everyone - as the noise seemed to be coming from inside the car it would have taken me a lot longer to locate without this forum.

Cheers!
not that it matters now, but i obviously meant COUPE, not cab.
