Every once in awhile when accelerating from a stopped position the car will rumble/shake and then stall. Today I noticed that the tip had shifted from 2nd to 3rd when the rumbling started.
Anyone experience this?
Know what it is?
Can't say I know what that is - but I have had similar shuttering and almost stall - but when coming to a stop. Others have suggested the Lockup in the converter has failled to release ... and as you know the Tip downshifts to Second when slowing. So it is kind of like coming to a stop without putting the clutch in on a stick. You issue could be the tanny not shifting - or shifting into lockup to early??? I am thinking - Maybe time for a Tip Fluid change for me at 85,000.
Any chance a DME relay could do that ? Mine caused similar symptoms, so IMO it might be worth the $ 25 and
start with one of the cheapest components in the process of elimination .. ( and if itsn't it's always good to have a spare one in the car anyway, those do go bad eventually )
Aye, I've experienced this with my Tip. Changed DME, no joy.
