Slowly but surely I'm starting to appreciate the SC in this car. Although it's clear the car is faster pretty much in all respects, as I may have mentioned before, based on tne first few runs and purely from a seat of the pants feel vs the " modified " NA varied ; felt same in 1st, considerably quicker in 2nd and also in 3rd, somewhat quicker in 4th, but oddly a bit slower than the NA response ( yes, it feels that way to me ) in 5th or 6th and that when starting at the same rpm level ( below 4k ) , for maybe the first 2 or 3 seconds, but then it picks up the pace very nicely and you know you have an SC pulling that puppy :-). Sorry, meant pushing..it's rear wheel drive, LOL.

There is little doubt I'm wrong about 5 or 6 gears, because it's completely. illogical for something with a lot more torque than I had before not to translate to the butt-o-meter, and you can still tell it's faster as soon as you watch the speedometer climb like crazy, where it did not do that nearly at tne same pace before. :-). Now, where even my insensitive butt-o-meter had to exclaim " wow ", is stepping on it when going uphill ; you can really tell what tne SC is capable of : I had about 1/8 mile mild incline hill to conquer and going from about 20 to over 100 in the blink of an eye , I muttered to myself : Mother ..f...superior, this baby hauls !!
WANT - WANT!

I guess I should just drive the car for a while as it is...lol

It will give me time to appreciate my first Porsche.

Then next year....oh next year - but I will need red hoses to match my top and interior - lol
DS, perhaps your butt is just insensitive to the truth! Lol surely your eyes can't be.
After driving the car only a handfull of times since the install I'm starting to realize where the power is all over again. I love the torque and as DS pointed out the speedometer climbs up on you rather quickly. Very happy I finally had it installed after sitting on my bedroom floor for two years. My 968 feels like a whole new car after owning it for over twelve years. One question Bob, should I close off my air ducts in my hood as they serve no purpose anyway?
yes. they are only giving you front end lift and reducing the effectiveness of the cooling system
I'm not sure it was such a good idea for me to start reading these posts. I have three kids in college syndrome, aka I'm cheap, and now I'm jealous. Well, at least I can spend a couple hours detailing it and it will look good. I'm just afraid, I'll take it all apart, add the SC, and it wont work. Then wind up paying someone to fix it. And by the time I'm done, could have bought a new Cayman S.
the installation is really pretty simple, and it works every time. any issues have always been either the car or the installer. it's never been the kit.

i have had to walk a couple of people through it, but it always works. the biggest issue is trying to figure out how to get people to follow the instructions, and not do things outside the scope, and to ask me questions BEFORE doing something. some people tend to think they are a better mechanic than they really are. a couple of people should have had their tools taken away - lol. still, they got through it. by and large though, the installations have always gone well, and the end results have always been good.

but, i'm readily available, and have never had issues answering questions.

there are about 40 of these out there, and they are all running.
Just took on a GT3 ( guessing it was one of the earier editions ) and from about 30 mph to about 90 mph, he could not keep up !! Close, but not enough to pass me. Holy crap, tne SC is actually more powerful than my seat of the pants tells me it is, LOL. However, by the time I got to 110/120 or so he did catch up and pulled ahead , quite easily . Still...I was left with a warm and fuzzy feeling about the performance of ttne DR1 SC'd 968 up to that point.. Wow.

Once again, to clarify : these things happen mostly on highway onramps or highways themselves when there is hardly any traffic around.. Never on streets .
Worried about big brother are you? It's too late your already caught as are the rest of us.

LOL, the forums is the least of my concerns re sites being caught in.. :-) -

Oh , and before you jump to any wrong conclusions, it's all automotive related sites , for example : Glorious racks ( a forum dedicated to power steering vs rack and pinion ) , Rear ends ( site dedicated to fender bender insurance solutions ) , Headlights monthly ( well, obviously about low beam , high beam, fixed light conversions, etc...) Lube jobs ( self-explanatory ), and so on... What ?! :-) :-)

Then again, given the title of this particular thread it might attract more attention than others ..
