While waiting for the belt to stretch, I'm considering installing my new oil cooler duct.
I can see how to take the little bolt out of the bottom, and flex it out of the clips that hold it in place, but how do I get to the bolt on the top?
It looks like I'd need to remove a headlight or worse, take off the front bumper?
the duct stays in place when you remove the bumper cover, so you shouldn't have to remove it to install it. but frankly i can't remember how it went it, because it has been too long. i think you can get to it if you just move the wheel liner out of the way so you can gain access to the top of the cooler.
Ah, OK. I've never taken out the wheel liner, I'll look into how to do that.
you shouldn't actually have to remove it. if you remove the one 10mm hex head at the forward area (about dead center in front of the wheel) you should be able to manhandle it out of the way to do what you want.
it's not hard to remove though should you decide to do that.
I replaced mine during my engine rebuild. You don't need to do anything with the bumper. You may be able to remove it with the wheel liner in place, but I think you might find it a lot easier to just remove the liner first. Or at least remove it at the front so it will move back out of the way. It comes out easily and gives a lot of room to pull everything straight back, or as close to that as the oil cooler lines allow. I just unbolted the oil cooler from its mounting, two bolts on each end. Then you can move it to the rear, remove the old duct and install the new.
