I bought my 968 in 2004 with after market head unit, CD mounted behind the drivers sets and a huge amp in the back, It;s time to get rid of the junk and i'd like to find the original stock radio. Not sure which radio came in a 94 Cab, but I'd like to go back 100% stock on everyhing if possible. Anyone save theirs when installling a double DIN nav unit?
i have to ask. why? concours? otherwise you're really doing yourself a disservice.

i'm sure you'll find one though, if they aren't all in a landfill somewhere
I'll look around for mine. If I find it you can have it for shipping cost.

I kept original radios in my first two P-cars, but I have to say the originals were "junk" too.
As a possible alternative, I ran across this in Grassroots Motorsports:

These guys sell modern head units with a retro look. Not sure if they make one that exactly matches the original 968 unit, but it might be worth a look.
When I bought my 968 it had an aftermarket system with CD changer mounted behind drivers seat, huge amp in the trunk and a lot of basically bad install and wiring work was done by the <acronym title='previous owner'>PO</acronym>. I have a drain comeing from that wiring. i just want to get rid of everything and put a stock radio and I;m not sure if it came with Cassette, or what at the time. I hope cassette then I can use my iphone to play throuh one of those adpaters. I only listen to Am radio or the iphone and usually audio books or streaming radio at that, so sound quality if of little impirtance to me. I know the stock radios in Pcars aren't very good, but they will play for my purposes and I like original in this car. I have another P car and nothing is orignal but for 968 I've gone back to original Cup wheels and also looking for orignal seats as I had put some sport seats in and gave my originals away a few years ago. They went really fast when I posted them up here for "just come and get em" Wish I had kept them now. I still only have 86k miles on the old girl and she;s running better than ever, top is now all fixed and I finally found a windshield. As far as I know I got the last tinted one with antenna. There are three clear ones in Germany and I was told the one I just bought is the last one. Not sure if that's true or not but it took a two months to find it and then another month to get it shiiped from FL to GA. Mine was cracked a ittle and started moving. At one time I recall Flash saying he replaced his wind screen regularly so I would be nterested to know if the parts guys on the East coast are giving me the straight skinny.
sunset still sells the tinted ones. i checked a couple of months ago, and do fairly regularly. i have yet to find them unavailable. never know though.
The parts guy at one of the Atlanta Dealers told me the one he found at Champion Porsche was the only one in the US. Three in Germany but all without tint. The one at Champion had been there for years. In fact it was in a warehouse with parts to be liquidated. Their policy is not to ship windscreens so I was going to drive down and have it put it in in October. Out of the blue they decided to do me a solid. The parts guy A. J. had somebody build a crate around it. Then it was too large for regualar carrier specs, so I wound up sending freight and it was only 70 bucks to ship dealer lot to dealer lot. Pompano Beach in S FL to Atlanta. I got lucky for sure.
My '94 has an Apine with amp in the trunk. But I'm wondering what would have been the original radio if the car also had a 6 CD option.
Answering my own question:

My car has code 331 for the CR-1 radio.

And code 692 for CD Player Porsche (from PET) 964 645 111 00 CD changer CR-1
Was there an option that came with a cassette player? Anyone have one? IF so could I get the part number from your book. I would buy one NOS if I knew what to order. Auto Atlanta can find anything Porsche if you have a part number. They are proud of the things they sell to be sure.
CDR 220s are cheap and plentiful. The Ipod cable doesn't really work correctly, at least in the 2000-2003 year models. I had one in my 996 and Boxster. Best you can do is audio input from headphone jack, which is OK but most people want to charge and view playlist etc so they upgrade and sell these.

Thanks, if you find it let me know. I have some 968 parts laying around doing nothing. Anything you need? If I have it it's yours.

My windshield turned out to be for a 996, incorrectly marked at 968 part number champion will make me whole I'm sure but now I'm back to not having one. I called sunset today was routed to vice mail and left my info. Is that unusual for sunset? I told them what I needed in message I left. I would sure hate to put a clear, no antenna windshield in the car. Wouldn't want a used one either. Darn!
that just means they were busy. either call back, or wait for them to return your call. i have found that calling back a few minutes later usually works.
Definitely call back. As good as their service is otherwise, I've left messages with no response.
Luke clle back later. They are out everywhere but Luke says Porsche is waiting on their supplier to get more. I ordered one from him. Ine will hopefully e ok for a while longer the crack hasn't grown in a while

Still looking for a stock radio. I'll trade a BNIB shift knob an boot for one. If that's not enough I'll sweeten the deal with parts or

$
Call Sunset they are very good but get busy, they will try and find parts and their prices are very good.
