A little late in posting, but I did compete again this year in the '73 911 RSR, and placed second, in a much tougher Division. First went to an excellent driver from Sweden, in a 600hp Shelby GT 350. We ran just after a big downpour on a very slick mountain. A Porsche 914 just ahead of me crashed on the (apparently) dry asphalt, in turn 1 of 156. Completely totaled the car. This was a wakeup call that it wasn't as grippy as it looked. That video is here.



Pushed it as hard as I could, given the lack of grip, and actually beat my time last year (which was in ideal conditions) by 17 seconds. Ran right behind Simon Pagenaud in the minivan from hell (500+ hp), and fared pretty well. You get a glimpse of my car on grid behind him in the video. He was a terrific guy, BTW.



Anyway, this year's video is here. Enjoy. If you haven't gone to this race, you need to add it to your bucket list. It's amazing. Oh, and that guy named Sebastien Loeb...he's pretty good.

That guy in the 914 felt excactly how I did when I parked my GSX-R 750 in the gravel-thing where you crash into on a racetrack (what in earth's name is the English word for this.. thing?)... First a little scared, followed by sad, than you see the damage and you become angry, than sad again and finally you worry about how many of your hard-earned Euro's this 'little' mistake is going to cost you again..

In English, that would be the "Oh s*** Strip".

He walked away from a rough one and mf's the car - wow...

Lucky dude to not get hurt on that one...

He actually was hurt. In the video, he's still in shock. I have heard various things, from broken ribs, to internal bleeding. Not sure of the details, but apparently, he was taken to hospital and stayed overnight after stumbling back to the paddock. Notice how the cage failed on the passenger side? Very lucky he hit on that side.

Yea I saw the crumpled cage...he is one lucky dude still with the size of that car, lots to crush inwards on someone..
