I just did a search for Durametric but didn't see any topics referring to this... I could have sworn I read on this forum somewhere that someone had been able to reset a Durametric tool back to zero cars. The enthusiast only reads up to 3 cars. Anyone? Flash?
Durametric will reset the 3-car tool for you, ONE TIME ONLY.
yup - i did that to the enthusiast version i had, just before i sold it (i purchased the pro version so i didn't need it anymore)
Wow, pricey!
worth every dime though.
yea, I doubt I will get one. I get enough lip form everything else including the cats. I am betting my mechanic has one and if not I am sure I have paid him enough since April he could afford 10 of them.
if you learn to use it, it's really a very effective tool. it can save you a lot of money in diagnostics. of course, you generally have to be able to conduct the repair afterward, so it you're not a wrench, then it's probably a waste.
Yea, I really don't enjoy working on my stuff. I get too frustrated and I can't work under anything due to vertigo from my cancer treatments, so unless i have a lift, forget it.
i get that. i actually don't enjoy wrenching either. that's likely because i end up doing so much of it though.

the durametric has been invaluable though to the local owners. i've reset a number of airbag lights, as well as diagnosed many problems in other cars. for me, it worked out great. for the average owner who doesn't wrench though, not likely a useful tool.
And, the Bosch Hammer is about $1,600, if you can find one.

Hmmm, don't even know what that is - so I probably don't have any business buying one. Lots of things that go bang to buy for that kind of scratch!
I'm going to download the software ( finally..after more than a year of keeping that Durametric on a garage shelf ! ) to my laptop PC this week and next weekend maybe use it to check if any fault code shows up on the tiptronic 968 which still does not run quite as well as I think it should ..the blink test comes up clean. It's the Durametric Enthusiast version , bought by the PO in 2012 , so fairly new in that sense - I trust it'll function without any problems and also not create any problems ; I'm so computer- phobic I would not be surprised if I activate the airbag light in the process and can't turn it off , lol.
