have you pulled the dash apart yet to see if there is room for this? it's pretty tight back there. so tight that i could not do a straight in fit of the 951 gauge, which is only the size of a quarter.



i haven't had a chance to get up into the attic yet. i had a big party here on saturday, and then had to go to new mexico to pick up a car and drive it back here. maybe later today.

flash, I haven't taken the dash apart yet, and I'm a bit disappointed with the bottom of the tach location because that's where the Tip puts all the PRND321 indicator lights - I didn't realize they were there initially because I have a stick.



I'm currently considering a custom-printed or -fabricated enclosure that mounts behind the steering wheel to the fixed portion of the steering column. It would be easy to wire to, it would provide a housing for the four buttons I am planning for menu navigation, and it would not block anything except the "Unleaded Fuel Only" sticker, which for my car is off-center and drives me nuts anyway.

I hope you get this sorted in time and pump out a DIY kit! I'd love an accurate boost gauge that could be calibrated to only 5 PSI. Your demo boost gauge looks awesome.

The programming is the fun part, I don't envy you trying to get the A/D conversions accurate for the sensors you will have to use. I'll pitch in if I get my name on the box ahead of yours <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.png" class="smilie" alt="" /> Maybe a Kickstarter project? Just incorporate 3D printing into the prospectus, seems to be the current buzz word.

I'm currently considering the gMax 3D printer - it's the only one large enough to print something bigger than cufflinks, so it would be useful post-project. Something like 16x16x9 inch print area. My intention would be to figure out how to print A-pillar covers afterwards...



Problem is, it would need to be modified to print ABS. PLA isn't suitable for auto applications if my math is right, because the melt point is too low. And the biodegradable factor is bad, too.

Says it prints ABS, no disclaimers. Interesting idea to print an A pillar and embed the display instead of having the large obtrusive gauges you normally see with the pods.

Thanks, trying to think "outside the box". Tried to contact the owner but he's pretty busy right now with shipping pre-ordered units I'm sure.

I might not know what I am talking about here, but what if you did it like a heads up display in the windshield like my buddies new vette - then you might be able to fit a really thin panel on top of the dash, instead of trying to fit something into the space behind the gauges...just a thought.

Funny you should mention that, I inspected a new vette this week and was considering just such a thing - I just need to display everything as a mirror image which is a limitation of the current software AFAIK.

Just finished the code for setting the screen contrast, and am looking into an auto-dimmer function as well, which would probably be easier for a heads-up than tapping into the light dimmer because the brightness settings would be quite different.

Everybody and their brother is interested and asking for updates - I can't keep up with posting on numerous sites so I opted for the "blog" approach.
