Finished my first oil change yesterday and I doubt if it could have been easier. Took about an hour of actual work to finish. Let the oil drain while out to dinner and was surprised that not a drop came out of the oil filter when I took it off. It was a Purolator filter which I don't think has a check valve so maybe that helped. I also poked a hole in the filter to help with draining. Thanks to Flash, I already had a strap oil filter removal tool which worked great however the shop that last did the oil put the filter one way, way too tight. In every car I have ever had, I put the filter on hand tight just a little less than full strength. Never had a leak and always make it easy to get off at the next change. I used Mobil 1 15W-50 and it may be in my head but the car seems to run smoother now.



I do have an ongoing issue I was looking for suggestions on. While the car is idling, I get a very small idle hunt that just barely registers on the tach but I can feel the vibration change throughout the car....any ideas what this might be and what to check? The motor mounts were just done not long ago (~year ago) so I don't think that is it.

could easily be spark plugs or wires. check the torque on the plugs. watch it idle in the dark. look for sparks. the wires are pretty fragile, and are known to crack internally.



could also be a worn cap or rotor. they don't last nearly as long as we'd like. i have to change mine every 15k miles or so to maintain maximum performance.



clean the MAF with MAF cleaner.

For the first time in 500 odd posts Flash didn't blame a vacuum leak. lol. But that is a also a possibility for the problem you describe.

roflmao. i have also been noting that there have been an awful lot of issues lately that look to be vacuum leaks. i've also noted that many of them were indeed vacuum leaks.
