I think Plitell is Dave...Jay
Pretty sure he (Plitell) means the OP DaveN?
OK, OK, you guys. I was celebrating that the SC made my '92 cab fast. I never said it made me fast. I just can't keep up with you guys.

Yes, Bulti, I was addressing DaveN, who initiated this thread. Sorry it's not anything more entertaining. I'll work on doing better next timeSmile
Glad you like it, it's great fun, no doubt. I have to find me a Euro-version of Flash fast, so he can start making more SC's :-)
I recently had a dyno done and had Flash and Max look at the figures. What first appeared to be perhaps a 10% loss turned into spot on when knowledgeable people read the runs. Flash can certainly explain this better than I.

Perhaps sc owners might consider a dyno run to see where their sc is!!!
yeah - this one was a perfect example of how dynos read differently, and you have to know things in order to know what you are seeing.

rap's numbers were only peaking in the 240s. that seemed wrong. however, the curve was right, the mixture was right, and the boost was right. as it turns out, this dyno reads low. when it should be reading about 200 at the wheels on a stock car, this one only sees 185 or so. it's a dynojet 240 (not a 248) which is the one that nasa runs, and is calibrated to read low.

if you do the math though, and take the 5lbs of boost, divided by the atmospheric pressure, and then added to atmospheric pressure, and multiply by the 185 baseline, you get 247, which is exactly where rap was.

the math works. love that.

so, you have to know some baseline first, before expecting any results to mean anything. also, NEVER try to calculate forward to the flywheel. they never do that right. it is not a fixed percentage.
Boy I'd sure like some more hp!
funny how it's never enough
No matter how much hp you have, there will always be someone with a car which has more. The new Challenger has 707 hp. Bugatti's 2016 Veyron will have 1,500 hp. And the contest goes on ...
lol - yeah - they've done a good job at marketing to us over the years. they know we all want more. i find myself looking at new cars lately myself. while i enjoy driving the 968, i have really learned to like the features of the new X5, and when i get into the 968, i feel like i've stepped down a notch, even though i've added most of the new features. not sure what that will mean just yet, but i acknowledge the fact that i seem to feel like i'm missing something.

perhaps if i bring the white car over, supercharge it, redo the interior with new leather, add the same creature comforts i have added to the blue car, and then drive it for a while, i'll feel differently. i've always felt the supercharger was best suited to the tiptronic, and the only reason i didn't recommend it was the flex dampener. we'll see how that goes.
No I neeeeeddddd some more hp. When is enough enough? Perhaps only when a hotshot kills you. Yes I know there will always be faster cars. Get that! Just said I'd sure like some more! Weight will come down but still with the same hp. So just hoping some one will figure out a way to expand stage three. Without blowing up the engine of course!
sorry - can't be done without a new engine build. had to blow one up though to find out.
Count me in
Sorry CA968, D1R Superchargers are NLA....unless you want to pony up $$$$$

Jay
Only for those in the Supercharger club. http://blipshift.com/
How much do we think these sc'c could be sold for? lol
My Stage 1 is being upgraded to Satge 3 in a couple of weeks. NOT because I want a little more power and more torque per se, but there are other benefits that come with that extra torque ( flash can explain ), and because it's a " why not ? " no-brainer decision. Besides, with only a Satge 1 the car had an inferiority complex parked next to my Sage 3 one, so it looked depressed..I don't have the heart to see it sad :-)
It's not good to have depressed cars. I'm dealing with that issue now and no one's happy! lol
So today I got out with the white car and the sc. It's the first time that I've driven this car properly since the sc was installed after being taken out of the red car. My granddaughter came with me. She is 11 and has been out with me for proper drives before. She reiterated her desire to have the car when she got her license. I asked if if she was going to get a job to earn the money to buy it from me. She told me that I was just going to give it to her and by that time it was going to be worth a lot of money. I believe she said a million bucks!

This car is so much different from before. Woooo. Eh. Man what a pleasure to punch. While I really dug the sc in the track car and will miss it dearly, I suspect I will have a lot more fun with the white car now. Also turned 80,000 miles today. We stopped and took a pic!

Spring is almost here so it will be even safer as the roads get cleaned up. Next weekend is the swap meet. I noticed that you end up going way to fast, too fast. Can't wait!!!
Speaking of " what a pleasure to punch " ; since I'm the only one on planet earth with a SC'd D1R 968 tiptronic - although there may be a 968 tip out there with another brand SC on it - it's amazing to feel the catapult sensation you get when you punch it ; it's a much more pronounced seat of the pants sudden rush feel as opposed to my six speed, in spite of the fact the six speed simply annihilates the tip ( I know that because the Dynalicious app does not lie, lol ) in terms of either 0-60, or the q-mile, or from any given rolling mph point to the next, and I don't know if it's the fact that the tip downshifts 2 gears when you floor it or what else but man, it's just a blast to drive . That said, for one million bucks, I will part with it and sell it to RAP's granddaughter . :-).
