So my 968 is running fine in my 87 944S. Air conditioning works, but looks at wire diagrams for the 968, it gets an A/C signal input, which I assume is to tell the DME the A/C is on so the DME raises the idle. It also has two "control of A/C relay" terminals. Are those to turn the A/C off at like WOT or something? Or does the DME try to have full control of the A/C?

The stock 944S DME only has an A/C signal going to it. So my question is: should I splice connectors to get that A/C signal to my 968 DME? The S DME got it's A/C signal from the 14 pin connector by the brake booster, while the 968 gets it at the 14 pin in the passenger's foot well..

Are my assumptions right? Should I even worry about it?

Thanks!
actually, based on what i see in the maps, the ECU adjusts more than idle when the AC is on (like timing). not surprised though. the 968 put a lot of things into the ECU that are not in earlier models.
So should I hook that signal wire up?
i wish i had time to read over the diagrams to tell you. they are in the workshop manual though, and you can download it from here.
I've read the diagrams, I see where the wires go. Just asking if I should make the connections for it or if it's a waste of time.
well, if you have read the diagrams, then with a tester, you should be able to tell what wire does what, and what is needed to tie the 944 system into the 968 ECU. i do know that the timing map is altered with AC on, to prevent detonation under load when the variocam is engaged.
Ok, thanks, I'll work on it.
