At the end of last year I announced that I was getting out of the 968 game. I was not sure I wanted to keep the car. I knew I needed to pull back from the site. We were looking at new ownership, or new partners, or some way of allowing me to pull back. I also wanted to get out of the 968 performance parts business.

All of that is still true.

But, as reality would have it, things take time. I am still not sure I want to keep the car. I'll have to drive it a bit more after the new exhaust to see if I can live with it or not. If I can, I'll keep it. If I can't, I'll sell it. It's just that simple now.

I still have to maintain this site until another situation presents itself.

I still don't want to be in the retail parts business. That being said, during the past weeks, I have received a number of emails requesting parts. In fact, I have received enough of them that I don't need to get into group buy situations yet. There is enough demand to justify a short run. So, I thought I would handle the stragglers.

This all comes about at this time, because I am about to dive into a long term business project, which will run until the end of the year at a minimum, and could easily render me unavailable indefinitely, so my time is going to be a lot less my own. There is a window of opportunity, but it's rather narrow. It is pretty much "now or never". This means that I am going to go forward with a run, but I will only be opening the doors for a short time. During that time I will likely not be available for questions, so if you are holding off because you have a question, you may miss out, as I cannot guarantee that I will be able to answer it.

The items I will be making are now showing as available to order on the Design 1 Racing website. Unless the site specifically tells you to contact me about a particular item, please don't ask about things there that are not showing the "add to cart" button. The items available will show the "add to cart" button, and will show as "backordered". This is because I am not doing a batch that will leave anything leftover. Again I am only running what I have prepaid orders for. I just don't have the storage space for parts, and with the big project coming up, I won't be able to stay on top of things if I don't keep it consolidated. This is going to be all about "make them-box them-ship them-done".

Of the items that show the "add to cart" button, the only exception to making what I have orders for is Supercharger Kits. I will only have 2 of those that will be available. I am not making more of those. They will be available as of next week.

Before anybody asks, no, I will not be "holding something for you until your tax return check comes in". That's what credit cards are for. Sorry. I just won't be available later to deal with that kind of thing.

I still do not and will not be stocking anything, and have no plans to do another run after this. I really won't have the time anyway. Unless and until I make a deal with somebody else to run the company, this is it, and frankly I don't even know that I will have the time to put a deal together. I'm going to be that busy.

So, get your orders in if you want something. Ordering is open now, and will be until Monday March 17th 2014 at 9:00AM Pacific time. Whatever is in will be ordered. Whatever isn't just won't get done. It will take about 30 days to get most everything done. Items that are longer or shorter in lead time are specified on the site.

is there a link to the design one website here at the forum? I just hit the button on the top of the scfreen and it was a request of information form?
fixed
Will you ship to the UK Flash?
of course. always have. i think the only items that would be tough would be the really big "braces". everything else fits in a box, and is easy. it can be pricey though, and i only do it through UPS. other carriers are too hard to deal with.
Thanks.
Woohoo!

Thanks Flash for putting up with us a bit longer. I got my order in and paid for. Get these goodies while you can guys. Having owned 5, and tracked 3 different 968's, I think these parts are simply designed better than anything else out there at very reasonable prices. I may go back for seconds.

Cheers

Mikey
no worries. you have some time still.
Thanks Flash - much appreciated. Will be sending you some of my tax refund shortly :-)
Bomb, don't you think you should have back up products? You know like just in case! Lol. I've got a back up splitter hanging around!
Ha! The splitter is about the last D1R item I need to get. Your extra one should appreciate quite nicely if Flash decides to go and get a real job - or a less expensive hobby!
Are the grills still going to be available?

Cheers,

Larry

After all of that work, you are not deciding to keep or not to keep the car just because of the exhaust!

MN
lol - yes. jury still out. only driven it one since having it done, but that is all in another thread.
a few of you seem to have skipped reading the part about delivery time. ok.

ordering closed on the 17th. my orders then went in the following day. everything is made to order. it takes on average 4 weeks to get things made.

i'll update everyone here on this thread when things come in the door, and i can start assembling things. keep checking this thread.
Are you sure you don't want to open the ordering window a little bit?
no new news as yet. still in line for production. due to the small quantities, we got put at the back of the line.
