Hi I am looking for an Ambient temp Guage for my 94 968. This is the guage that tells you the outside temp in Centigrade or Farenheit. The dealers and Porsche are no longer supporting this item and mine looks like alien space language. Porsche part # 9446412230001c.

Anyone that can help I sure would appreciate it. Thanks.
If you're any good with soldering it's probably just a solder point that needs to be reflowed.
I found one from a junk yard dealer online he was back east I think Pennsylvania. Their name is Auto Tech Plus LLC. Uniontown PA 724-550-4270 104 Keighley Oliver pa 15472 Good Luck he sewnt me a used one but it works perfectly. If I remember it was reasonably priced.
I've got a couple of them in stock. Please send me a message when interested.
and there ya go! gotta love this site.
I also have 1 of these in great condition with the matching sensor from pass mirror im in Northern, CA please email me if interested

I'm OK with a soldering iron if I know what to solder. Any cracked solder joints were not obvious.

I have the problem where the gauge reads fine until I turn on the headlights, then the gauge goes dead. Turn off the lights, you - reset to Fahrenheit, and it works fine.
i vaguely remember this symptom. it was something dumb, like the bulb in the back of the gauge being shorted
I seem to recall a bad fuse being related to that symptom.
yeah - could have been that. i can't remember. it was something simple like that though.
I have the same problem, so if someone figures it out I'll be very happy. I seem to remember a fuse too, but mine look fine.

I checked the fuses, actually all the fuses and no luck. It would be nice if it is something simple - but finding it might be the hard part - like a bad ground.

I looked at the wiring diagram. At the gauge connector it looks like all the wires are doing what they should. I tried disconnecting the lead from the dash lights, thinking that if the gauge never saw the dash lights come on then it would continue working although maybe brighter than normal in a dark cockpit. Well that didn't work, without the lead everything went dead again. It almost seemed that wire was providing the ground.

Attempting to find a cracked solder joint inside the gauge was not very fruitful either.

Thanks for the suggestions though.
on my car before I replaced the whole unit when I turned on the lights the gauge got so dark you could not see anything. When the headlights were off you could barly see the temp number. But once I replaced the unit everything is bright, and I can see the temp with or without the headlights on.
We still have one available in good working condition? Seems mine has gone bad. Good fuse good pwr at unit. Email at stephen.schwarz@comcast.net please and thanks.
Still hoping a gauge is available. Sent a few emails out. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/popcorn.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
Life in the forums is great today! Got a few emails back over the night and help is on the way. Thank you.
Whatever you do, don't buy anything from 944reanimation on ebay...
Roger that! Had problems with them too.
Received replacement gauge yesterday and installed. Works great except for the light bulb being burnt out. As this bulb is different from all the others in the vehicle I checked with Porsche. It is still available so ordered a couple of them. Should last the next 20 years. LOL
