Hi everyone! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

I'm writing from Milan, Italy, I was looking for some info on the 968 and I stumbled upon this forum, which looked really interesting so I signed up immediately!

I'm 37 years old, I'm in love with "driver's cars", and I've been lucky enough to own nice (used) ones in the past. It all started with a Miata, then a Honda S2000, then a Lotus Elise 111S, then a Z4 Coupé 3.0...

I drove all of them in many racetracks throughout Europe over the years, and also took some good circuit driving courses that helped me become a... let's say "decent driver". <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

I then "switched" to motorbikes for some years, but now I really really feel the need for a proper sports car.

I've always been fascinated by Porsches, and I admit that my dream is a 993 C2... but it's really too expensive for me right now.

On the other hand, I've always loved transaxle Porsches as well, and never perceived them as a lesser choice... I actually like them more than the 911 to some extent (I've driven a couple of 911's on a racetrack and I wasn't really feeling at ease with the peculiar weight distribution).

Long story short: I found a great 968 in Sardinia, I'm probably going to see it on Saturday and if it's as good as it looks in pictures, I think I'm going to buy my first Porsche! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

Thanks a lot in advance for all the information and knowledge you'll share!

Best,

A.
YES! Finally someone from Italy!

Welcome!

Maybe there has been a 968 owner/enthusiast from Italy on this forum before, but not in the past 5 years that I have been around. I hope you find a good quality 968 and become an owner. Then we look forward to reports of your driving experiences, not just on a track, but also on some of the interesting Italian roads.
Welcome, good luck on your hunt!
Welcome!
Thank you so much! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

I've just bought the plane tickets to Sardinia, where the car I'm planning to check - and perhaps buy - is located. I'll go there on Sunday! Looking forward to it!

One question... I have many pictures of the car and I'd like to share them with you. Is it better if I share the link here or should I open a thread in the Buyers Guide section?

I guess the latter, but... just in case!

Thanks again!! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

FYI: there is a <acronym title='pre purchase inspection'>PPI</acronym> at your disposal here. May come in handy when checking out the potential new car :-)

Thanks a lot Philippe!

Yesterday I did an extensive search here and found a very complete checklist in PDF, I guess you were referring to that, right?
Probably yes. You could use the checklist to assess the overall state of the car and try using this in the price negotiation. Could save you some € ;-)
