My name is Andy Kay and I live in the DFW area. I'm looking to purchase a 968 cab in the near future. I own a 79 911 SC Euro Coupe and a 87 928 S4. My first Porsche was in 1995, a 79 911 SC Targa followed buy a 92 968 Coupe. I've been a PCA member for almost 10 years. Currently, I am the Concours Chair for the PCA-Maverick Region.

I'm fairly new here too, but its proven to be an invaluable place since I bought my 968 last fall. Tuned up, cleaned up, polished up. Now if it would just quit snowing/raining.

Purchase Update: The auction ended yesterday and for the second time, ended below the "reserve". I'd love to meet the seller half way and buy the car this weekend. Unfortunately, Dallas got 4" of ice and snow and its 26 degrees. No one is going anywhere for awhile!
there is going to be a lot more "standing on price" going forward, for any of the cleaner and/or low mileage cars. they are going up in value, and most people know it. also, we are coming into spring. that always means higher prices, especially for cabs.
be careful about low priced cars too. they almost always mean a few thousand in repairs before it is road worthy. many people think they are going to buy a $10k car and drive it. it just doesn't happen that way, and they usually end up getting discouraged or upset when they find out that they got themselves into something for which they were not prepared. generally speaking, you'll spend about $20k on a cab by the time you get it rolling right and cleaned up, whether you buy one done, or buy one and fix it. it all comes out the same.

Understood. Both my Porsches averaged about $10k at time of purchase. After mods, maintenance and WYIT, they're twice that.
The "Garage Queen" cab has about 140k miles. one owner car. Lost garage to wife. Needs to sell.
It looks like you have made a lot of mods yourself (DR1). Can you tell me where I can access that site. Wife will want wind screen for sure. Looking for strut brace, etc.

at 140k, unless it has already been done, you can count on a valve job and a variocam service. likely all suspension bushings are worn, cracked or hardened. look closely at the top. look closely for oil leaks. they are pricey to fix on these cars. belts are an every 3-4 year thing, regardless of how few miles on them. those are the big ones. the ret of the stuff is pretty "normal" for an inspection.
p.s. - if it's a 92, see if they converted the AC to 134. 92s come as R-12, and that can be a pricey problem

Andy, did you ever find a 968? I didn't realize until now that you were looking for one. There are actually quite a few of them around the Dallas area and at one point I could tell you of 5 within a 5 mile radius of my house. In fact I had my coupe out for a spin the other afternoon and another coupe passed me.....not a frequent thing in these cars!
