Hello fellow car owners. I live in High Point NC. I owned a "Poor Man's Porsche" yea right, about 5 years ago. It was a standard guards red 1986 944, nothing special. Learned quite a bit owning that car, and how expensive they can be. It had rust and paint issues so I moved on. But I have to say, when it ran I absolutely loved driving it. So I told myself I would get another. I always liked the styling of the 968 better and thought when I get another I would look for one. So I ended up buying one from this board. Paul Johnson lives pretty close in Cary NC and is a very nice, knowledgable guy. Drove it home last night. What a cruiser. Love that 6th gear. Anyway, some little differences than the 944's and looking forward to reading up in the forums. - Andy
Just bought my first 968 from the classified section. Looking forward to learning more about the car.
Enjoy Andy. My wife shead a tear when you drove off. She misses the car. I look forward to seeing more pictures as you progress with it.
Welcome and enjoy the car Andy!
Welcome,
Glad you found the car, and this site
Jay
Good to see you acquired the car from an enthusiast. Enjoy!

Hi and welcome,
my Mrs would shed a tear as well but of joy not sadness, she wanted a 928. she seriously dislikes the 968
Maybe you can source a 928 badge for the 968 and she won't notice it isn't one. My wife loves the 968 compare to the 911SC we had.

I wanted a 928 but when I took Darlene for a test drive in one I was hoping to buy, she said: "Why do want THIS car?"
To not derail my P-car purchase, I then took her to see a 968 cab at a dealer close by. I had never seen a 968 in person till that moment! Although we did not buy that 968, she said: "If you need to have a P-car, get one of these! I like it." After looking at a few more 928's that day, in the evening we dropped in to see another 968. We bought it that night.
NO regrets. Although I still secretly would like to own a 928 ALONG with the 968... (problem is that it would have to be a GTS 5-speed and those are starting to command a hefty price these days...)
There is a special 928 for sale over here one of 10 cars made, got some flared rear arches and 450hp
I can't find any info about it other than what the owner tells me, it's quite rough I would need a lot of talc and cash.
He's asking 27K GBP for it

My impression of 928s (in the here and now) is that it's probably like dating an ageing supermodel - high maintenance and bitchy, but somehow strangely alluring.
Hi Astash,
That's a mighty fine looking car you've got there. And with its provenance - and your skills - things don't get much sweeter.
Welcome!
Welcome. Enjoy your ride. Depending on the supermodel she might be doable for a short time? Lol
Like it rap, when you get to my age anything without a walking stick
I don't know how old you are but there must be some better measure of respectfulness than a walking stick! False teeth, old store bought a still holding up, belly smaller than breasts, thighs smaller than tree trunks and the list goes on!
54...................................... now sporting a few internal mods
Welcome! Up in Norfolk VA!
Nice ride.
