I am doing a clutch job on my 968. Removed the flywheel and was looking for the timing marks. I was going to mark them to make them more visible. The problem is I don't see any marks at all. It is a DMF, not sure is it is the original or not. One question is where are the marks, I assume they are on the ridges at the back of the flywheel? There is a gap in the ridges and I was wondering if that is where they should be. A picture would be nice. I have never had a problem finding the marks on a 944 flywheel. I'm wondering if it has marks??
My LuK DMF doesn't have any markings on top either... I use the 3 markings which you can see through the hole in the bottom of the bell housing, along with the marking on the cam gear. They are 3 little III.
Thanks, I will look at the flywheel again but I don't see any marks.
These are the ones I referred to, page 15-4 of the manual:

Good luck!
Thanks again but I don't see any marks. I wish someone had a picture of a removed flywheel and where the marks are located.
Is there a Porsche part number on the removed flywheel ? Do a search on finding TDC and there should be some pictures on here.
the hole is in the front of the flywheel cover between the sump and bell housing, I like you spent ages looking for the timing marks through the hole by the engine speed sensor, I could not find it in there and my flywheel is the original
I finally found the mark or marks. I had to take sandpaper and think I can tell where they are. I see one and then about an inch away I see what may be 3 more. I'm going to paint the mark, which one is the correct, I assume the 3 little marks? What is the other mark?
This is a Luk flywheel. Does anyone know if they made the original? I'm trying to determine if the flywheel is original or not. Thanks.
Thanks so much or the pics. Mine does not have those marks???
Very strange, my LuK is the same as in the pics... The 3 marks should all become visible through the hole underneath the car when cylinder n° 1 is at TDC, the middle one of the 3 centered in the hole.
Maybe an email to LuK will solve the mystery?
