Making my obligatory intro post. That's all good, because I cant wait to dig into your forum.
I dont have a 968, but I've been lusting for a while now. It will either be that, or a 944, which are more plentiful. If anyone has a lead on something good and reasonably priced, I would appreciate it.
I currently drive an FX. N/A with some mods, . . pretty much a Z with a backpack. Has near 50/50 weight, & it actually handles very well. I take it to the track every couple of months, as well as drive the Malibu canyons nearly every Sunday. It gets alot of attention since no one expects it to lay down competitive times.
Can't wait to get into a 944/68. Hope soon

OK. I hear ya. Sure it can be tracked. I just want a coupe anyway. Cab is pretty, but not for me.
And that's more money than I was hoping to spend. Both beautiful cars with lots of power.
Strangely, you will find that a a number of 968 owners also drive Infinitis...myself included.

Ditto. Last year at a DE event at Summit Point, a gentleman was driving a G37. Poor bastard got riffed for driving his mother's car at the track. He told me that the weight wasn't much of an issue. He wasn't in my run category so I don't know how valid that comment was. Mine understeers going up and down the Giant everyday but that's what street cars do. It was just sort of humorous to see this guy in the paddock with his car!

& I totally agree about street cars and how they plow. Mine did too just plenty, but for some magical reason, it has transformed into a real handler with just the right amount of oversteer. It's RWD and down to what I guess is 3850 with some of the junk removed from interior.
For what it is, it's tossable & capable of 4 wheel drifts. It became like this after I added a bunch of GT-Spec bracing and sways to it. And that was on Eibach lowering springs and all seasons. Currently it's even better and pretty sorted. It rides on coils and a set of square GTR rears with summer rubber & much needed BBK (I was killing my rotors way too often)
I know Willow Springs pretty well, and at my best, I've seen Lower 140's at Big Willow, & Mid 130's at Streets. That's not too bad for this fat girl.
Part of the fun at track days is the great response i get from nearly every stranger I run with. tons of thumbs up and alot of respect . . & room given on track
It's a keeper. I love the design, its paid for, will run happily all day at the track, . . and quite capable of handling a boxed 65" 4K from Best buy

Oh!, & it has timing chains. Dont we wish the Porsche did too!?

thanks. a lot of time and effort went into putting it together, and even more in maintaining it. keeping things on track, and in the right areas is key to maintaining its functionality, and that requires diligence. the members have been great at not letting it become the endless wandering threads of other sites, though once in a while we have to prod one now and again. it pays off though.
I know how that is, and it shows.
I'm a Mod over on another car forum. Yes, a Nissan one. 10K signups, 20K threads, 450K posts (I just looked) I do some maint. work there, but let's just say our Admin has his hands full.
