Both doors lock and unlock okay with the key. When using the

electric locks, I hear a click in both doors but they don't lock

or unlock.

It seems both doors act the same, so that makes me think it is

not a mechanical problem.

Any suggestions on where to start.

Hmm, if it was a fuse or a relay I'm guessing you would not even hear a click. Central switch ( cabin console one ) malfunctioning perhaps ?
Lube the actuators.That fixed mine.
I guess I need to pull a door panel and see what is back there.

Yes, lube the linkage and get a little lube under the rubber boot of the actuator. Mine went from not working at all to working fine, and just in time for the remote unlock/alarm installation.

Also note, the built in alarm will not arm if the locks are not all the way down, which is another reason to get in there and lube everything up, including the window mechanicals.

Thanks, good information. I'll get them off and see what I can lube up. Perhaps a good time to place some dynamat inside the doors.

On another note, my sons 1988 944 Turbo locks the doors every time you shut them. I'll tackle that one next.
I'm having similar drama. But if both are not working, it may be one of the microswitches. At first, it was the actuator linkage on the right side. I fixed that, then I had to take a handle off again for a small adjustment, and I broke the wire that leads right underneath the lock, now both don't work. They're synched somehow.  I just posted on it. I need help too. Were you able to fix the issue?
