Full Version: Question about replacement of the first ps return line

I ordered a new power steering return line that runs along the top backside of the rack; the part number is 944-347-449-07.  To be clear which return line section I am talking about. This is NOT the later expensive section with the integrated cooler tubing. This is the one which attaches immediate to the return port of the rack.

I checked the 944 service manual group 48, as well as the Clark's garage website. I don't see anything specific to replacing this return line.  I am curious if any members have done this type of replacement before without dropping the rack.

Is it possible and relatively easy to replace? Or should I plan to drop the rack to get this done. It feels like there are a few clamps that attach the tubing to the top back side of the rack. However, I have not gone further than that yet. I'm awaiting for the part to arrive.

Yes, I have replaced that line. Not an easy fit to get the fasteners off/on.

If you need to get the rack out of the way, it's only four fasteners and maybe the one thru bolt on the intermediate shaft if you can't swing the rack forward enough.
Thank you.
