Just done another two hours glue removal and its really getting me down now.

Any advice on an easier method.

I am using 'Concept tar and glue remover' which worked fine on the soft stuff and heat shield material but seems to be struggling with the thick stuff that is applied to our cars.

The stuff seems to be exc3eptionally thick around where the battery cable goes through the chassis at the front.

Any advice?

Graham
Bjorn,

How did you remove the glue on your car?

I think Eric bought his with the interior already stripped....a very wise move in my opinion!

Thanks

Graham
Time, Heat, a LOT of rags, and a lot of patience.

Or, you can be a wuss like me...and pay to have somebody else do it for you.

I did all the carpeting and foam backing...Then I turned to my mechanic who has some part-timers working for classroom credit.

I know it's cheating, but I couldn't take it!

But, I did break my own windshield...that's got to count for something!

Jason
A heat gun and a scraper should get most of it. Use the solvents to get the residue off. Luckily, I don't have first hand experience!

Eric
Guys,

I think I'll try the heat gun.

It won't damage the paint will it?

Graham
Graham,

I've heard from the guys at my mechanic's that the heat gun is a really important part of the process.

It serves to loosen the glue and makes it easier to scrape it up.

Jason
I'll have to be carefull need the wiring as well i reckon.

Heres to the 968 RS clubsport (N-GT)

Thanks

Graham
Jason,

Did they remove your dash and all wiring?

Did they repaint the inside?

Graham
Graham,

No, we haven't gutted the dash. We are removing the A/C though. We will probably use the center A/C vent space to put in 3 guages...Oil temp, Water temp, and Turbo boost .

I will have the inside painted when it's all done.

Jason
No, we haven't gutted the dash.

Well, it appears that I've lied. The dash is out! When was the last time somebody weighed the dash?

Jeezus it's heavy! I'm getting a new one from GT racing. Hope I get a raise before I have to pay the bill for all this nonsense.
