I bought an Audiovox system. I had it down to that or the Viper. The viper was out of stock and about $70 more. Did you guys have to wire the lock unlock into the door? Is it possible to go into the alarm box instead of the door?
Both door functions can be accessed from the wire bundle in the passenger footwell. Mr. Rustech found a kind of "appendix" shaped wire bundle in the loom that is attached to the DME and the alarm computers. It is identified by the yellow caps on the wires. You tie into the system there. The only remote location, that needs a wire strung to the back of the car, is the trunk pop.
Here is a pix of the wire loom.

Perfect, thank you for the help. I will be installing it tomorrow morning and i'll let you know how it goes.
KRAMERMIC,
I just got the relay kit from 968ENGINEERING and put it in last night. The pop wire that has to be run to the back can be run under the plastic trim piece that runs along the door sill. I then took off the rear passenger speaker panel and hid the wire under it. The wire can then run into the trunk area through the hole that the rear seat backrest release cable uses. Once in the trunk area it is easy to run the wire under the carpet wheel cover. The existing cables running along the back of the trunk, by the rear lights, were wire tied to the pop wire. The connection is secure and unseen, even when the trunk carpet is removed. All without drilling any holes in my 968.
Now I can now order 3 door plugs from bumperplugs.com!
I installed my audiovox system today. I wired my hatch release to the hatch release by the hood release. Everything works perfectly. It took a couple of hours with a few interuptions. The only problem i have is with the range. I am going to make the antena longer to come up to the dash. Is there a certain type of wire that i need to use to make the antena longer? right now it just sits in my passenger footwell with the rest of the alarm.
you could always hold the remote up right against your chin and then push the button - don't laugh - it works

If the car is locked and you pop the hatch and open it, does the alarm go off?
nope, it disarms the alarm and then rearms it when you close the hatch.
Any ideas on the antena? I went to radio shack today and nobody there could help me.
As antennas go, making it longer may not do anything. They are tuned to the frequency they capture. Try re-routing it to another angle and make it as straight as possible.
also, keep it away from power wires, and as exposed as possible (i.e. don't duck it behind a metal plate if you can avoid it)
That's why I want to make it longer. It is currently tucked behind the passenger kick plate with the ECU and alarm control box. I wanted to run it from there up through the dash and maybe even up the A pillar and across the top of the wishshield. It may sound extreme but i'm willing to do the work (and buy the wires) to see if it will help. I just spoke to a guy at one of the better stereo shops in town. He said to use any wire, it all works the same. Hopefully sometime this week i'll have time to take care of it.
The height (and amount of obstruction) of the RF receiver does effect distance. Mine came with a telephone wire to connect it to my alarm computer. I placed the receiver by the upper light through the A-pillar.
