Ahhhhh... Trout fishing, nothing could be finer. Just a picture from last week. Spent a few hours at Blackman's Lake in Snohomish Washington. Good luck to all the other fisherman out there.

I'll take mine grilled with lemmon and rosemary. E-mail me for mailing address <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
It's official, this weekend I got outfished by a girl. I taught her to fish last summer, and she put in her fair share of time getting skunked and watching me catch fish... This is just a little more than I expected. The only strike that I had all day snapped the line on the way in (that'll teach me to retie more often) and she pulls this bruiser in. 21 Inches and 5 Lbs of delicious Washington State Rainbow trout.
Lemme try this again....
Stupid dial up... I'll upload the pic from work when I go in tonight.

What the... was that trout caught in that civic garden's koi pond featured in the photo ? <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/blink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/blink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
The photo was taken facing the shore side of the lake from a fishing pier. Blackman's lake is about 60 acres and depths max at about 50 feet. This time of year the largest fish move into the shallows as the water warms up to pick off insects near the shore, and small baitfish on the edge of dropoffs. Later this year the only way to get the big guys is to troll deep near the center of the lake, but for now, those of us with fly rods and spinning tackle have a shot.

Rivers open on June 1st, and I look forward to posting pictures of river run cutthroat and rainbows, as well as some summer steelhead if I am lucky.

Good Fishing,

Micah
Yep.... Watched it on the news a few days ago... Some very well fed folks down there.

As for me... I haven't caught wnything worth mentioning of late. On the 8th I am going in search of the elusive Spring Run Chinook on the skykomish river. With luck, I will post pictures!!!

Tight Lines,

Micah
Hey, what about the summer steelhead run? I'll be on the Deschutes in late August for a driftboat trip. Steelies and Trout!
That trip is planned for the weekend of the 22nd. The girlfriend is turning me loose to go fish the Bogachiel over in the Forks area. I haven't had that much success for steelhead myself (1 in about 5 years of trying) but I plan on taking a guided trip this winter with my fishing buddy Steve-O when he comes back from yet another Persian Gulf deployment. I've done three myself and I know he will need the time to relax when he gets back. If you will be in the Seattle area, give me a heads up....

Tight Lines,

Micah
