yes - i'm pretty sure this is related to specifically the ultralight series - every manufacturer of ultralight wheels has had failures, especially on heavier cars like vipers - based on the information i gatered when i was shopping for wheels, the frequencies have been highest with fikse, then kinesis, then hre
the ones i have on my car are not the ultralights, but rather the street wheels - the difference in weight between them and other wheels (like BBS for example) is staggering, but i knew my car was for the street, so i wanted a stronger wheel
deciding which wheel to put on your car is really dependent on the specific use intended, just as it is with tires - load ratings play a HUGE factor - you can't put a heavy car on ultralight wheels and expect them to hold up like they would with a heavier wheel
i will be speaking with HRE tomorrow about this and get the real skinny, and then let everyone know

I have been hearing about this from some of my friends in the wheel world for a long time, We had a Z-06 vette with HRE rims do the same as the pic in the attached thread at TWS last year, Unfortunatly i didnt get any pics of the car itself or the wheels but as you guys can guess, it was not pretty, Isnt the only difference between any of the ultralights and the street wheels the rim section thickness, Im pretty sure that they both use the same wheel Center,

from an earlier conversation i had with HRE, the centers are not the same - in fact, the competition series only come in 3 styles (not the one i use either - figures)

From what I have read. It is the Powdercoating process causing this problem. I had forged wheels on the Cayenne one of the rear wheels cracked. Coincidentally they were powdercoated and then re-podercoated when I had them refinished. This is the same case with one of the cracked HRE's. It has to do with the heat during the PC process.
this is very serious and i cannot caution enough against rampant unsubstantiated rumour spreading
before this gets any farther out of hand than it already has, and anybody makes any libelous remarks, and ends up dealing with HRE and the reputational damage they caused to them:
i have spoken to HRE and there is no ban to date - there are UNCONFIRMED reports of some vipers having a problem - the head of PCA is not aware of any ban by them - the viper racing people don't even know what they are banning at this point - i'll explain that more later
