is it okay to shout praises on this forum??? i'm guessing so...

after doing some work on my rims the past few weeks, i discovered that i needed new rear tires (badly!). after looking at posts on this forum, i checked out the web page of the tire rack. great information, great selection, good pricing.

i ordered good year eagles yesterday at five thirty pm. they arrived this morning at 1030, ups. i couldn't believe it!!! very impressive. all that and i still get a discount card in the mail in two weeks.

even after having the tires mounted, i'll end up saving a bunch of dollars.

if anyone would like, i'll have my original front tires left over. i ordered four new ones, but the original fronts are in near perfect condition. they are toyo something's. i want to say t1-s. i can check tonight. if anyone wants the toyo's, i'll gladly sell them for minimal dollars plus shipping. 17" rims.
I would just like to second that opinion. I have been doing business with Tire Rack for 20+ years for a wide variety of vehicles and they have never disappointed.

I even sent them a letter onbce to tell them how much I thought of their products and service and they rewarded me with a digital tire pressure gauge.
what's their address? (just kidding!)
Did you know that company was started because some Porsche owners wanted a place to get tires at a good price!
another outstanding feature, and one that EVERYBODY should take advantage of, is the road hazard warranty

think of it this way, one screw in one sidewall, and you get to buy a new tire (been there done that) - the warranty buys the tire for you, and only cost a few bucks

i've used thier warranty, and been very thankful i had it

most tire shops will not sell you or give you a road hazard warranty on performance tires

i love tire rack
Next trick is to find a very competent shop that can do state of the art alignment. Not all of Tire Rack's 'certified' installers meet this criteria.
VERY true - it's very hard to find a good alignment shop - the machines that do a good job are expensive, and techs are hard to find - this gets even tougher when you want something specific in your alignment - that pretty much crosses out the dealerships (definitely the case in the 6 dealerships near me) - the turnover rate is generally too high to have specialized people like that - the revenue from an alignment is too low to justify the more qualified personnel

my best suggestion is to talk to the racers in your area and find out where they go - don't limit yourself to porsche people though - when you do find a shop, make sure they have the special tools necessary to do this car (rear height tool is critical because rear height is possibly the single most critical setting)
if only the installers at bell tire were as good as the tire rack!

they really hacked up the paint on my rims while mounting my new tires yesterday. the manager was very relieved when i told him i'd fix them myself, so i got a free mount and balance.

needless to say, i left in a very bad mood and forgot to pick up the old front tires. i am sorry to anyone who actually wanted to take me up on my offer to ship out those old toyo's.

i did call over to the shop this morning and it turns out that their recycler stopped by last night to pick up their used inventory. if the manager for some reason still has those tires, i'll let you guys know. it doesn't look good. bad timing, for sure.

if anyone is interested, i managed to sand down the damages last night and refinish the rims. i didn't get much sleep, but since we're going out of town for the fourth, i couldn't pass an opportunity to take my baby on a road trip.

sorry for the tire tease. cold showers all around. my bad.
And I concur as well. I got my Continental ContiExtreme Contact tires for my 968 at The Tire Rack and the price was excellent. The tires arrived the next day and I had them mounted/balanced at Costco for $8 per tire. The price for everything was WAY better than any local shop... even Costo's prices for tires that fit the 968 were much higher than The Tire Rack.

you got lucky - the costcos out here won't mount tire they don't sell
