I finally got my car back from the shop (Ozark Import Specialists in Springdale, AR) and there is one perplexing thing. The antenna in the windshield has that 4 or 5 inch wire coming off of it. We (me and the guys at the shop) couldn't figure where the wire coming from the radio is!?! I can't find it!...I know it had to be there at one time. Could anyone shed a little light on this subject for me? I know there is a rubber tube up high in that corner - but I think its a drain tube. There is a plug that looks like it would be it directly behind the battery... is this it and the wire is just absent?

Also... The other 968 I had was a Cab so...this is going to be a dumb question but... What is the antenna for that is on the roof of my coupe? Is is for cell phone or something?
Cabs have antennas in the window, coupes use the antenna on top. I would guess that you should not have wiring behind the battery as a cab does but I do not have any experience with coupes.

How is your radio reception?

Do you know Leonard with the yellow M030?

Are you coming to Porschepalooza http://www.porschepalooza.com ?
Yea...well I've been outside figuring that out. Its weird because I have a windshield with the antenna in it... My reception I would say is on the fair/poor side. I think it is better since I screwed in the antenna a bit tighter.

Don't know Leonard. Is he a fellow Arkansan?

Thinking about the deal in Eureka.....
You can assume that you have a windshield with an antenna in it because you have a 944 windshield: the 968 used the antenna you found on the roof.

Any other signs of a change? How true (free of bumps and irregularities) is the molding around the windshield, for example? Any signs of collision damage?
My '93 CS has a windshield with antenna wire build in.

The end of the wire is even nicely routed (with some rubber compound) to the place where it would go through the firewall on a cab.

From the bills I have with the car I cannot make out wether it ever had the windshield replaced or it is still original.
Everything looks true and good actually. I haven't seen any other signs of damange - especially in the windshield area. I can assume the windshield was replaced with a 944 windshield at some point - but a good replacement was done. I suppose there's no harm in it...
Windshield replacements are common and the windshields with antennas are less expensive and easier to get that those without antennas. So I would not worry about the windshield.

Leonard lives in Springdale and recently purchased an immaculate Yellow M030. He has a 930 and 944 in his garage as well. He is the main organizer of Porschepalooza. We look forward to seeing you there!
