Is there a benefit to the 7.5" over the 8"'s?
The last set of wheels that are illustrated are, in my humble opinion, the PERFECT choice and the ones to which I aspire. Clean and simple design, very open, and very complementary to the car. Someday...

Ooops, I see I need to clarify. I'm referring to the wheels shown in Kgains post at the end of the first page. The ones shown in the wheel enhancement link a couple of posts above this are - and, again, personal opinion, good looking wheels like ones that I had - and sold (17"). I don't like wheels that are different on the left and right sides of the car. To me, they are "going" on one side and "coming" on the other. I only use symmetrical designs, or assymetrical that have left and right side wheels, like I had on a Saab a number of years ago.

Def one of my fav looking setups
EEZATOY,

Would you be so kind to do a "photo shop" comparision of the two thumbnailed pictured wheels? The designs are close, so a pictured comparison would really help.

Porsche
I think Greimann has the best wheels for our cars. They cost too much for me though, and I don't think the 17's come with those cool little rivet things. The Speedline RS wheels are pretty nasty too, but the sport classics go best with the style of the 968.

By Speeline RS, do you mean these:
Porsche, I think both of the ones you've posted are great. Personally, I'd go for the one with the flat, rather than knife-edge, spoke. I think the smoother transition at the rim is more attractive. Both are great wheels, though.
If you go with 18's is it better to stay with widths of 9" and 7.5" or can you go wider, ie. 9" and 8", or 10" and 8" etc. Are there any issues with larger widths?
Ok here's the 5 spoke look - remember I can't say that size is accurate I'm just pasting the picture over the current wheel...

Sam
hey good work looks good. i think i like the wheels in the first pic, thee 996 wheels.
Thank you for the photo shop work. The pictures do really help.

I'm not sure why, but I was instantly "smitten" with the 996 Light weight wheel when it came out.

Now that the 997 version is available, I should like it as well. I also agree that the cleaner lines of the 997 should/could/would be prefereable.

But somehow the new 997 styled wheel makes my head hurt (weird reaction). Could be that the 997 style wheel has such a "hard" look to it. By comparison, the 996 style seems to "smile" at you.

Thanks again for the great pics!!!

On 18's you will want 8's and 10's or 9's and 10's. Those widths fit the tire selection better.
With the exception of the look of Griemann's multi-spoke wheels, my preference is for simple, five-spoke designs - sans the spokey, fiddely bits. Also, based on much of the commentary here re: ride comfort on 18's, I just bought some 17" "Cup II's".

Speedline RS on 968CS

Bo
Yep, those are the speedlines I mean. Didn't Sandoval have those wheels on the 968S? I agree with you Porsche, the 997 is the best looking 911 in my mind but with the ugliest wheels both on the base and on the S.
If you go with 10" wide 18" wheels in back, the most important issue to consider is offset. Wrong offset, interference. Right offset, no problems.

Bo,

Your car looks absolutely fantastic. I've always really liked Porsches in white.

I had a 1989 944 Turbo S in white with a black interior. It was a great car, but I prefer the 968. So I sold the 944 Turbo S, to find the 968 that I have now.

Well I have the Porsche RS Speedlines. What size tires are you running on the rims?

Did you add spacers or did they bolt right on with proper clearance (as Anchorman pointed out)?

If you needed spacers, did you change out to longer studs? If so, how long?

Let me know,

Porsche
Thanks Anchor.

Here are the 18" 996 wheels on a white club sport/white wheels, nice car, it's a member's here on 968forums.
For some reason I couldn't upload the pic in it's original form and had to resize it, but now I guess it only posts as an attachment, no thumbnail, as it seems to be .bmp

I tried to post the image original from it's url but it said that dynamic pics weren't allowed.
