so, last august we hitched up the 968 on a u-haul flatbed trailer and towed it to denver behind the jeep for the rocky mountain event - it made the run fine, having only one spot at 11,000 feet that was tough (some bonehead passed me and made me slow down)

it was a very clean black 1998 Grand Cherokee with a 5.2l V8, full class 4 tow package, tinted windows, power sunroof, grey leather interior with wood trim, fully loaded, infinity sound system, power everything, rebuilt differentials, new cooling system, and fresh brakes

i bought it from my next door neighbor, who was the original owner, and had meticulously maintainted it at the dealer - i felt very secure in the purchase

since then, i have made a lot of mods, in anticipation of a lot of such events

i wanted to improve the handling, so i added 17x8 voxx rims with bridgestone RE680 275/55/17 tires, aadco larger sway bars, bilstein shocks, eibach progressive 1" lowering springs, new front lower control arms, new old man emu steering stabilizer, and upgraded brake pads

for more power, i added the K&N intake kit, which gave me 25.7 more horespower - it also got fresh wires and plugs

all in all, this turned out to be one sweet rig

then, of course, we got to denver, and my other half got to drive eric's yukon denali (you know where that leads)

so, we have now taken delivery of our new 2006 yukon denali - since i can't leave anything alone, i installed the 22x10 rims with 305/40s on them, lowered the front 2" and the rear 3", and installed larger eibach sway bars - amazing!! - pics to follow

anyway, the jeep is now for sale - it has 109k on it, runs like a top, and according to the dealer who recently serviced it, should go over 200k - pricing it at 12k - i'll have photos soon

i am also selling the factory GMC 17x8 polished 6 spoke rims with goodyear wrangler hp 265/70/17 tires (71 miles!) - pics and price to follow

Always wanted to see someone with one of these swap the last 3 letters on the badge to IAL.

Shoud we move this to the For Sale column?
Flash,

You are now to be known as the "GUY WHO TITLES ALL HIS TOPICS WITH CAPS".

Please revise your sig/avatar accordingly!
ok - those are both funny

i don't mind if you move it - i didn't put it there because it wasn't a 968 - i didn't want to be the one to pollute that section with non-968 cars, and really, it was more of a story than an ad - i'll be putting that together over the next couple of days

p.s. - since we all know that i am the guy who buys everything for his cars, perhaps i should mention that it also comes with both the factory luggage racks AND a yakima rack with bike racks, AND a built in motorola cradle hands free car kit AND a brand new 551 that has never been used, AND a radar detector

you won't need it. that car's size blocks all the sunlight for a 30 mile radius, disabling every RF, satellite, infrared, and /or any other type of signal or detection device.
ok - here are some preliminary shots of the jeep - i'll take some better interior shots this week

Flash, what headunit is that.. it is stock? Looks like the Pioneer AVIC-D1, could be wrong. If so i installed that in my brothers 02 gs300, with the 20's and rear spoiler. I totally put 17,000 miles on that car from, oct - december(when i bought the new P-car).
and you win the prize - that is exactly what it is - deliberately bought the car without the factory $3000 junk unit - dang near stole the D1 - still have to change the amp to something a bit more substantial, and installing another EQ to tune the crap BOSE speakers, but we're close

I've been thinking about cramming one into the p-car... very possible with a bit of fabrication. Want to keep it stock though.. and the cubby for my phone. Will that clock assembly just pop right out, and i could just build a bezel for the pioneer.

Definately worth it.. amazing headunit. Only con is the fact that there isn't a mute button on the front, and no scroll volume wheel. I hope that Alpine comes out with one.. Love their eq and bass boost.

What's your setup in the p-car?

I want to change out the the stock speakers, half of them are blown.

Still don't know what to do with the door speakers. Still want a 10-speaker system. I know the cabs have fewer speakers, but if you were to upgrade the 10-speaker system how would you go about doing so?

Thanks
the N1 or N2 might fit better

i'm just about to do the write up on the solution to the 968 cab stereo dilemma - still about 2 weeks away though - just too much to do
yum.... Alpine is coming out with the DD, 4" tall, in-dash dvd/wma/mp3/cd monitor. It's the Alpine IVA-W200; Crutchfield has it for 999.00, and you can buy a navigation unit to link up to it for 1699.00. I know that's a bit more than the Pioneer AVIC-D1, but you can play DVDs on the alpine. If i can get the measurements i'm totally puting this in the p-car. I don't want to remove the bottom clock and cubby, but would have to in order to fit this 4" tall unit. I'm stoked... nothing like adding 50 more lbs to the p-car. Plus it's Alpine.. the greatest.
