Just bought some 17" "Cup II"'s (thanks, Pete!) and will be shopping for tires. I'm in not too much of a hurry as we are just heading into our biggest snow month here in Colorado. The Sumitomo HTR Z II's have great reviews from other sports car owners and are a great price (www.tirerack.com). Anyone here have some experience with them?
I have a set of 18s in 235 / 265 widths used for street tires on my 968. I have autocrossed with them a couple of times.

They are a good summer tire. They have good grip and provide an early squeal warning in the corners. I do not find them noisy.

They corner almost as well as 225 / 245 Victoracers on 16s.

They do not have as much grip in the wet as I would like but narrower factory size tires would probably help with that.

For the price they are a fun, competitive tire.

When they wear out, which I do not expect to happen under 30K, I plan to replace them with P Zero Nero M&S tires. We put a set of those on her Jetta and find that the corner well, are a little quieter and are excellent in wet weather.
I had Sumitomos on My SVX and thought they were a real nice tire. I like the P Zeros as well, but they are more expensive.
Thanks for the feedback. I think I will order these when it gets closer to when the snow doesn't fly! Probably late April...
