while i am certain that there are chapters that hold events which can be fun or populated by nice people, the organization's mode of operation leaves a lot to be desired. it is that underlying problem that will likely always be in the way of us becoming involved with them.
i was a member for quite some time, but have declined to renew, due entirely to the problems we have encountered
Well, I don't know of all that history, and I can't do anything about it. I will see how it goes. If I enjoy the people in the club and have fun, I will hang. If not, I will bail. I was a member of the Harley Owner's Group when I bought my bike, but that didn't last too long because of the way the local chapter was run. So far, I am enjoying the magazine and got a break on my insurance, so we will see. Once the car is running better, I will go to a few local events. Then I will decide if I will continue or not.

i've been a member of various such clubs for nearly 40 years. i never ran into a bunch like that until then. i am quite sure that there are great pockets. unfortunately i have not been so lucky. still, i know a lot of members that i like, in spite of them being members.
My local PCA chapter is overall a good group of people. No discrimination because I do not have a 911. They even welcomed my son with his Acura NSX to participate in "fun runs".
The chapter over on Vancouver Island where DaveN is a member seems to be an excellent bunch, based on the little interaction I have had with them.

Perhaps Canadians are a more pleasant people! I started in a region where my first impression was not one of friendliness. So I moved to a much larger region where the folks were friendlier. This season due to scheduling I've found a region that is real friendly and fun and have primarily run with them. There are jerks in every club. There are those where a little power goes to their heads. Clubs are run differently and often reflect a group of folks who for whatever reason like to participate in the running of that organization, while others choose not too. When the same people are in positions of control or a limited number of people switch positions it can cause problems. If you don't participate then things can often remain the same. I don't have the time or inclination. So if I don't like how a club runs I vote with my feet!
If Canadians are more pleasant people it must be due to the tuques, eh?
WOW! some really interesting stuff here. I would love all the particulars on my 92 968 but I hate the thought of paying $100.00 to PCA for the info. I wish Jeff was still part of our team, but I understand both sides
Well from where I sit here, Jeff seems to have his own site, and is being referred as the "Porsche 968 Register Gut" by the PCA. If he is, then he needs to be doing his "job" as the 968 Register dude, what ever that is...
I don't know where he hangs his hat so to speak, but clearly when I called PCA today, they referred me to him. When I told them he has not provided me with any info upon request or returned my inquiries, I was told the director of the PCA would return my call. Nothing yet.
We will see. If I have to I will call back.

No. I have never received anything from Jeff.
I bought my car April 24th. I signed up right that weekend. It is now August 1st.
I have the latest Jeff newsletter (last week) if you would like me to email it to you. This newsletter contains the infamous color chart referenced earlier, so he is distributing it. Jeff used to be good at responding to emails but for the past year or so I seems to have lost the "reply" key on his email.

I also think the fact that they keep getting wrecked and not repaired or suffer catastrophic failures that are not economical to repair will also help the perceived value and collectible status. I can remember when no one wanted a 914. Now they are getting expensive.
