I've been losing water for a couple days, and I found the source of the leak. This picture is taken between the passenger side front wheel and the fender. If you look at the arrow, you can see that water is leaking, and it looks like the pulley has rubbed a hole in the hose. My question is, is something out of adjustment, or is the hose usually that close to the pulley? It doesn't look right, so I'd like to know ahead of time what I'm getting into before I tear into it. Thanks!

there are plastic clips that are supposed to hold most of the hoses out of the way - i have seen that if any of those are missing or loose, and it doesn't take much, that they fall into harms way and get screwed - happened on an upper radiator hose while a car was on a dyno for one of my tests - blew coolant everywhere
There is no clip on the lower radiator hose, just a plastic shield. Mine is about 1/2" away. When you install a new one, cut it shorter if necessary to get 1/2" to 3/4" clearance.

Same thing happened to Charles Geer at RA last month in his 944. Obviously I need to check mine to make sure of the clearance.
sounds like a job for zip ties
