I just signed up for the NASA event at Buttonwillow. I'll be running in the slow-poke with supervision group (HPDE 1). Am I going to see anyone from this board there? It'd be nice to have some company...
I checked the website and was unable to find out what "nasa" stands for...?
If I was a little closer I'd go - unfortunately I think I'm at the farthest point from any track, [along the coast].
It's "National Auto Sport Association" -- not to be confused with the more famous "National Aeronautics and Space Administration".
Yea.... going to a track is hard because they tend to be located in the middle of nowhere. But I'm trying to put some effort this year into "tightening the nut behind the steering wheel". I'm going to head up there the night before and then put in two full days of seat time.
Plus our cars love being out there -- it's worth the drive.
I just got back from a day at Thunderhill -- I must have more track time.....
I kept the PCA-SDR event in my calendar, but I'm afraid I have other obligations for that weekend.
Bill, I am going to be in San Diego that weekend, visiting my US Marine son, how far is ride up to buttonwood? Might take the rental car just to watch the action.

Rich,
ButtonWillow (
http://www.buttonwillowraceway.com) is 125 miles north of Los Angeles. depending on where you are in San Diego, that would make it 200 miles or so. Basically, it's about 4 hours north of San Diego (+/- traffic). It's a very nice track with great facilities and the weather is likely to be in the low 90's. It's a good spectators track as well, although not quite as good as Willow Springs. We will be driving all day Saturday and until about 2:00 Sunday.
