I have a CR-1 factory radio in the car. Rear speakers are not working. Volume knob is very noisy.

I bought the car this way so I knew about already. No biggie

Before I trouble shoot...do the cars have external amps or is the head unit the source and amp? Seems easy to pull and I know where and what to test

jut figured I'd ask before hunting for an amp that does not exist

Sunroof

The sunroof operation seems to raise the roof 3/4 to 1 inch and then return it to the flush position. This works fine, however I think at some point in the cars life the "receivers" (lack of the right word) that the geared levers lock into have either worn out or broken. You see if I send the levers to far in the lower diretion the roof is not locked in place. Playing with it and the button gets it to the right spot. I would just assume though that the factory button should stop at the right spot to lock these in?

Thanks
Check your option code for the hifi stuff...if you have amps, they are under the seats. 490 is the hifi option and 494 is the amplifier option.

Make sure you're not playing with the sun roof with the ignition key in position 1 (check in the owners manual) as this retracts the gears to let you remove the roof from the car.
the hi-fi option on my 93 coupe came with the CD-2 stereo.

which has external amps under each seat.

not sure what the CR-1 has for power, but i don't think it has external amps.

on the sunroof issue

the sunroof should go up about 3"

on my car i have to push up on the front switch at the front of the sunroof to get it to go up all the way.

the gear failure is very common and it's kind of tricky to get the system all synced back up.

doesn't clarks garage have a write up on that?
My '94 cab had the CR1 with the external amps and cd changer. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
